I remember when I first moved to New York. I was terrified at the thought of being alone in the big city. I was only 16 going to one of the most prestigious schools in the country with no help. After some time I adjusted to the city life. I became in tune with the way lift worked there.I've always been the kind of person to accept change, to take a new challenge and conquer it. But this, this change I wasn't prepared for. I didn't want this change. Or at least not now. I wasn't ready.
I woke in the grass, the sun blazing down on my skin. Shouting was all around me, an argument among a community.
"She wasn't ready! How will she be trained? How will she control her magic?" Someone shouted from my right. I tried to sit up but a hand pushed me back down roughly.
"This is why you don't leave until told," Alessandra's harsh glare bore down on me. "This wouldn't have happened if you had listened to me!"
I shoved her away, "You were keeping me here against my will. I told you I wanted to go home."
"You're not fully trained, Cecelia. You're being defiant," she glowered.
I raised an eyebrow at her, "excuse me? Defiant? I don't have to listen to you." The other enchanters gasped at this. I guess nobody has ever stood up to Alessandra. I wasn't going to let her reprimand me like a child. I don't even know what's going on.
"I don't even know what happened!"
"You're in transition," she sneered, "your neck was snapped. And now you're in Paradise."
I lightly touched my neck and the memories came flooding back. "He killed me."
"Yes and if you were properly trained you could have stopped him and Esther."
I shook my head, "isn't this part of the prophecy? To become a tribrid? I'm supposed to be a vampire."
"You're not trained!" She bellowed, scaring the others. "It will be harder for you to gain control of your magic now."
I stood up, matching her height, "harder but not impossible. You're making this a big deal when this is supposed to happen. I can do this. I just need time to adjust."
She glared at me but gave in. "Complete the transition and come back here. We have work to do. Esther is not finished with her plans."
She didn't give me a chance to reply, just created a portal under my feet and let me fall through. My body collided with the hardwood floor of the Mikaelson manor, altering the others of my presence.
"Are you alright?" Elijah asked as he helped me up. I nodded.
"The enchanters are not happy with me," I mumbled, adjusting my clothes. "They don't think I'm ready."
"And you think you are?" He countered.
I sighed loudly, "I don't think this is a big deal. It's supposed to happen. I'm supposed to be a vampire. I mean I'm not happy about this but I just have to suck it up."
"Beautiful choice of words, Cici," Rebekah laughed from her spot near the door. "So you'll complete the transition?"
"I don't think I have a choice even if I didn't want to," I grumbled. "Who even gave me their blood? And when?"
"That would be me, darling," Kol spoke up, "I fed it to you when you had your vision yesterday. You were unconscious."
"Well, thank you," I smiled. "So how do I do this? From a bag? From a person?"
An urgent knock at the door took our attention. "Cecelia! Cecelia!"
"Who's that?" I asked. Nik went to open the door.
