Edward's View

Thump-Thump-Thump-Thump. "Edward! Edward wake up!" I was shaken awake. When I opened my eyes I saw the familiar surroundings, Horse carriages and people on both sides of the dark alley where I've been sleeping lately. I've started sleeping there to prevent people from seeing me and to also hide myself from the neighborhood bullies who always picked on me for being homeless and for having a dead Mother and Father.

"Good morning Rose" I said while getting up off the cold cement and on to my feet.

"Good morning Edward," said Rose.

Rose looked at me with a sad expression on her face.

"What's wrong Rose?" I asked. " It's April 10, todays the day you're leaving and I don't want you to leave," Rose said with a sad expression on her face, " My parents offered you to stay at our house, why did you refuse it?"

"I couldn't accept that offer, especially when your parents are having a hard enough time buying the three of you food, a fourth mouth to feed would only be troublesome for your family and you," I sighed.

"Then tell me...tell me what you're going to do once you get to New York, where will you go? Where will you sleep?" She yelled.

"That... I will have to figure out when I get there" I mumbled hoping Rose wouldn't figure out that I didn't have a full plan.

"Really!" she yelled, "You haven't even fully made a plan for what you're going to do once you get to New York!" "I swear I'm more responsible than you and I'm two years younger than you" Rose shouted.

"I can't say I disagree with that," I said chuckling.

"You really don't want to be my big brother and live with us," Rose said, hiding back her tears.

"We're already family, I've known you since I was 2 and our parents were great friends, I don't need to get adopted by your family to be a family."

"I guess that's true," said Rose with a very sad look on her face.

"I know that's true" I said while pulling her in for a hug.

"Anyways," Rose said, forcing a smile on her face, "Mom and Dad want to say goodbye to you too, they took the day of work so they could see you one last time and talk to you before you sneak onto the Titanic."

"Then let's go find them" I insisted.

"Right," said Rose.

As we walked towards the direction of where Rose lives to see her parents two of the neighborhood bullies walked out from a nearby alley.

"Well-Well-Well, look who we have here. If it isn't Ugly and his little friend Midget"

"What do you want Robert and James, and why are you always so mean to Edward!" Rose yelled.

"Rose," I whispered, "they only want to pick on me so go run home and I'll be there as soon as possible."

"But" Rose whispered back.

"No buts." I said sternly while staying quiet, "Now go!"

Rose nodded and ran the long way home. I was glad that she would not have to get involved in this.

"How's your eye doing?" Robert yelled then started laughing.

"Yeah did it heal yet?" James said and joined Robert in laughing.

Last year the bullies in this neighborhood said I have ugly eyes because I had two colored eyes. My left eye is brown like my hair while my right eye is blue like the ocean. They decided that my Blue eye was a ugly eye so they took a pocket knife and cut it. Luckily it did not make me go blind or affect my eyesight but it left a big straight scar over my right eye. When they started bullying me I was covering my left eye with my hair. When they cut my eye they cut the eye that they saw daily. Because I had a big scar on my right eye I changed my hairstyle to cover up my right eye and to hide the scar. Know my brown eye is the eye that's always showing even though I liked my blue eye better before it had a scar on it.
