Her heart was beating like crazy. Her breathing began to get heavy. And her lungs felt tight. Any moment now, she felt like her legs were going to give up on her.
She could see the end just not far. She ran as fast as she could. And just as she crossed, Dustin clicked on the button. Gwen began to slow down. She fell to the floor, still breathing heavily. Dustin ran over to her. "Did I do it?" She panted
Dustin shook his head. "Just a few seconds too slow."
Gwen rolled her eyes and groaned. "You've got to be kidding me." She pouted.
"Why are you doing this anyways? You're already the fastest girl in school." Dustin asked.
"Dustin?" Gwen stood up.
"Yes."
"Would you rather get better at motocross, or do you want to be at the same level that you already are?" Gwen asked.
"I'd want to get better of course." He said.
"Exactly." Gwen snapped her fingers.
"Oh, I get it now." Dustin nodded his head.
"See, now, let's try one more time." Gwen patted his shoulder.
"But it's already been an hour. How are you not tired?" Dustin asked.
"I just have a lot of energy." Gwen smiled. "Now, let's go." She rushed.
They walked back over to the starting line. Gwen got in position and Dustin got the timer ready. "Go!"
Gwen took off in the speed of light. Dustin careful washed her run. Though her feet hurt, Gwen wasn't going to give up just yet.
Once she was near the end, she used up the rest of her energy to run to the end. Dustin clicked on the button and smiled. "29.8 seconds. New record." He said.
"Yes!" Gwen jumped in the air. But when landing, her legs gave up on her and she fell down. "Ouch." She groaned.
Dustin ran over and helped her back to her feet. "You just keep getting better and better. You're awesome."
"I know." Gwen bragged.
"Can we get out of here now. I have to meet up with Tori."
"Sure. You go wait at the car. I'm going to pack my stuff. But I'll meet you there."
Dusting gave a thumbs up. "Got it." He ran off towards the car and popped open the trunk, grabbing a water bottle for both him and Sofia.
Gwen began packing her things. She took her ponytail off and let her hair fall. She then looked back at Dustin and saw him talking to another boy. She could see them looking over at her. She kept wondering why they were staring.
After finishing up, she grabbed her bag and walked over to Dustin, but the boy had already left. "Looked liked you were hav nice conversation. Who was that?" She asked. Gwen opened her trunk and began putting her things back in.
"Oh, he was just asking about you. He thought you were really cute and that he was impressed by what you were doing. Said you looked cool." Dustin explained.
"Wait, wait, wait. Slow down. A guy was actually asking about me for once. What did you tell him?" She asked in a panicked tone.
"I didn't think you'd be interested." Dustin said.
"Oh, okay." Gwen sighed.
"Did you want his number? I could run over and get it from him." Dustin asked.
"No. No. No. I'm fine. I don't need it. Not sure if I would want it anyways." She grabbed the water bottle from him and frowned. Now all she could think about was Peter and Eva.
