Warning: Violence, someone gets their ass beat

I love Beastars. Take this love triangle. Don't judge.

The moment the curtains fell, Audrey dropped on the stage. She was exhausted, but had one secret. Audrey had broken her leg during a secret round of rehearsals in the auditorium. She had broken in with Rory and a younger coworker to practice. What she failed to do was turn the lights on, but doing so meant getting caught. You were outside keeping watch, making sure nobody was coming.

You had zoned out for a bit, nobody was coming this path anyways as this was the alley, but it was the staff entrance. You found a calico cat, crouching down to run your fingers through it's soft fur.

"(Y/N)! (Y/N)!" The younger actress called out, running inside. "Audrey needs you. It's bad. It's really bad. She fell, we couldn't see anything, I was falling and then she caught me. She won't let Rory help her up." The actress cried out, dragging you into the dark auditorium. "Why won't you just let me help you?" Rory's voice was filled with frustration, but he didn't raise his tone. "I need (Y/N)." Audrey sniffled, clinging to your grasp as you lifted her. As you helped her support her, she explained that at worst it was merely a twisted ankle. Oh how wrong she could've been.

You were the only one who heard the snap as she glided across the floor into position, controlling the lights from the rafters and keeping an eye on the star. The snap was quiet, but you had managed to hear it as you zoned into her. She had held her position, hiding the pain she was in. Her words were beautiful, a beautiful speech in character.

The curtains fell and so did Audrey. She stood there, almost in shock before she started to teeter. You quickly got to the stage, catching her before she struck the floor. The curtain call was in a moment, so you carried her backstage with the director. "You're going to be okay." You whispered to Audrey, removing her boot while the rest of the stage crew prepared the curtain call. There was a chanting for Audrey, marked as the star actress in this play. "I have to go out there." Audrey mumbled, trying to lift herself up. "You're not going anywhere. We need to get you to the hospital." You hissed, gently pushing her to sit back. The exhaustion kept Audrey seated back, a groan of pain quiet in her throat as you checked her wound. "Your ankle is broken." You pointed out, quickly getting ice from the director as he brought his car to the alleyway. "I know I broke my ankle, but I had... I had to do the show... I love you..." Audrey's head tilted back, a soft snore coming from her.

"Is she okay?" The director asked, driving. Audrey was sprawled in the backseat, asleep. "She broke her ankle and she's exhausted from rehearsing all night. She really burnt the candle at both ends this time." You commented, sighting softly. Getting to the hospital, you carried Audrey in. Within the hour she was taken to her room and successfully got a cast on her. It wasn't hard to do, she was in a deep sleep.

When Audrey woke up, she saw the director, Rory, you, and a couple of the stage hand. "What happened? Did we do the curtain call?" She asked, sitting up. She saw the cast on her foot, fear in her throat. They found out. "You broke your ankle, but it was a clean small fracture. You'll be healed in no time. You did a great job healing it." You explained softly. "We did the curtain call, there was a lot more camera flashes than I expected. They were chanting for you, babe."

Disgust filled your senses, the word felt like a nail driven into your heart as he said it to Audrey. That was her nickname to you specifically, but hearing it come from Rory to her brought a jealousy that radiated in a burning angry heat off your body. "I'll be fine... I won't be able to do the second day, so Rory, you'll have to do my parts." Audrey spoke softly, her eyes on you.

You had been selected by the director to take Rory's place, to which you already knew the lines and choreography for as you practiced all the scenes of this character with Audrey in the past.

"I can't believe I'm going to be the star of the show! They'll say, not bad for a male protagonist!" Rory gleefully cooed during rehearsals. Your eyes were on him, your muscles ached with anger as he gloated about taking Audrey's place for one night. You already knew the crowd was going to be upset, they were there to see Audrey.

Practicing the fighting, that's when Rory began to dig into you. "Don't think I see the way she looks at you? It's pathetic, really. She's mine." Rory whispered to you, applying more pressure to the fake sword. "She will never love you." He added, pushing you back a little. The director and Audrey whispered to each other quietly as they watched.

It was the day of the performance and you were right. The crowd was not happy to see Rory as the star, in fact the crowd was whispering in confusion. Audrey was fixing your costume quickly before you were to go on. She gave you a small kiss, smiling. "You're gonna be great. I'll be right here watching you." Her words filled your heart with love, but you were also enraged. Rory had been taking backstage about Audrey inappropriately. It was his way to show dominance.

You walked on stage, Audrey giving you a kiss right before you went on. As you walked forward, Rory recognized the look in your eyes. He was now scared.

Audrey watched you in shock, watching you drop the sword and go in to strike him with your fists. Your initial blow was enough to knock him down, but you got on him and continued to beat him. "Someone do something!" An actress whispered.

You struck Rory, his words in your mind. You couldn't get the image of Audrey in his bed out of your mind, tears filling your eyes as your punches got heavier and heavier. When Rory finally had enough, striking you and kicking your stomach. He pressed his foot on your chest, applying enough pressure to make a groan escape you. "I'm the star of this show." Rory hissed. Just as he raised his sword, it was struck out of his hand. As he turned to see who had done it, the crowd started to go wild.

"Enough, you imposter." Audrey called out, the cheering almost deafening. "You're going to have to play the villain now." Audrey whispered, quickly changing the volume of her voice. "I know who you really are! I'll show you who the true grim reaper is!" Audrey's voice boomed, the audience watching in awe. Jabbing her sword at him, Rory turned and fled. You sat up, Audrey turning to face you. She held her delicate hand out, helping you up. "I love you." Audrey whispered, pulling you up. "You'll fade with the morning dew, along with the fading me." You stood beside her as the curtain call began.

Thousands of people stood up, the clapping and cheering filled the room. You continued to hold her hand, ignoring the pain in your stomach. She squeezed your hand tightly, a small smile forming under her skeleton mask. Your voice was only a whisper. "I love you too."
