Your eyes focused on the lever in front of you as you got into the cable car, you had been invited to the most prestigious party, you, a reporter for the Karnaca Gazette. Wilhemina Venable, grand inventor of Karnaca and close to Lady Cordelia Goode from the House of Brigmore. It suddenly hit you that the highest ranking woman would be there, as well as Grand Physician Karen of Tyvia and a few others. Audrey Tindall, actress and playing the Princess of Tyvia in the female rewrite of Prince of Tyvia. Overseer Billie Dean Howard, Royal Spy Master Ally...

Adjusting the lever, the cable car began to move. The gate was left open for the guests, a wall of light being what decided who was and wasn't welcome. When the cable car stopped, you slowly got out and walked up to the door. The foyer was beautiful, an Audiograph Player beside a bowl of fruit. Starting the audiograph, Ms. Venable's voice was heard.

Welcome to my home, do be warned that if you are not welcomed that you will be properly taken care of. If you are here for the party, welcome! Climb the stairs and meet me in my laboratory across the bridge.

Once the audiograph finished, you opened the doors and headed up the stairs. A clockwork soldier was standing at the base of the conjoined stairs, it's blades crossed and head down. It was beautiful, a dangerous creation that looked to be carved over months. It's head quickly looked up, adjusting it's stance slightly as a light flickered over you. The soldier went back to it's idle stance, Venable's voice coming from it. " Reading... The target is friendly, machine is back to idle." She sounded annoyed or tired, but you were permitted to move on.

Getting to the beautiful laboratory, you saw a group of women standing with wine and gazing at the machines. You got closer, seeing that Venable wasn't here. "Venable, late as always." Cordelia giggled, checking out the soldier's mechanical parts.

You went to the elevator that was in the back of the laboratory, heading to the second level of the room. Looking at the woman sleeping at her desk, she noticably had a sleep dart in her arm. Plucking the dart out of her arm, she quickly awoke and wrapped her fingers around your wrist. "I'm sorry, Grand Inventor Venable. You had a sleep-" "I was inducing myself to sleep. I guess I've slept longer than I expected." She grumbled, getting up and fixing her clothes.

You looked around this area of the laboratory, then saw a plate above the elevator. Do not wake me between 3pm and 7pm. Only four hours of sleep? You followed Venable and stood quietly beside her. When you got to the base level of the laboratory, you watched Venable make her way to the middle of the room. "You're all here to see my latest creation. The Clockwork Sentinel as well as celebrating the year with me, The Outsider had blessed us." Venable called, lifting a glass of Tyvian Red. "To the Empire!" She cheered, the conjoined voices loud in celebration. You raised your glass, smiling. "To Venable!" You yowled, the rest joining in praising the woman. Her face was bright red and full of shock.

After a few glasses, you were slumped over on a couch in the winding halls of the Clockwork Mansion. Venable took a seat beside you, gripping her cane tightly. She smelled strongly of Karnacan spice and Tyvian alcohol. "Your creations are beautiful." You admitted, looking up at her. "Thank you." Her voice was quiet, her eyes locked on the Clockwork Sentinel in front of you.

Her hand gently found it's way to yours, softly squeezing and smiling. Slowly coming closer, your lips matched hers as they moved together. Her hand found it's way to the hem of your pants. "Miss Venable, you have an appointment with a customer. Their name is..." You and Venable pulled away from each other quicky, seeing a young man holding a clipboard. His hair was masterfully done up and his clothes were of the working class with a slight flare. He was her best worker. "Vicky Miller in 5 minutes." The young man looked up, blinking. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know you have company. I'll go observe Jeff and Mutt's test with the soldiers." He ran off, leaving Venable with the clipboard.

"I'm sorry for the interruption. I'll be at your apartment tonight, see you then." Venable kissed your cheek, getting up and leaving. You grabbed your items and left, smiling.

Stumbling up the steps to your apartment, you fumbled with the keys. The loud horn of the Dust District warning rung outside, the howl of wind and dust rushing through. You shut the door behind yourself, dropping your bag onto the floor and falling into your couch. Your heart pounding and a smile creeping onto your lips at the memory of her kissing you, a lovesickened sigh escaped you. "See you tonight..."
