Tommy POV
"Your brother tells me you've made a new friend?" Puffy questioned, a delighted smile on her face. Her wings ruffled up, pleased by the statement.
"Yes... at least I think so." Tommy nodded, trying not to stare at her wings.
"I'm glad Tommy, everything is always easier with a friend."
"I guess." he shrugged.
Puffy stood up, thinking for a moment before speaking. "Tommy, I know depression is never going to fully go away and there's no shame in that. But you can't simply ignore it. You should talk about it. Whether that be with me or your new friend, or even your family. We care about you and want what's best for you."
Tommy sighed, "Isn't that what I'm doing?"
Puffy took a deep breath, not wanting to get into another argument. "Yes, but I worry that you may be ashamed of your depression."
"I'm not proud of it." the blonde muttered. He stood up, looking at her with bored eyes. "Can I go?"
"Yes."
Tommy quickly stood up, exiting the room as fast as he could. He hated those kinds of lectures. They made his blood boil. He took a moment to collect himself before finding his way to the entrance. Immediately he saw Wilbur, looking bored as he played on his phone.
Tommy cleared his throat, causing the brunette to look up. "Oh hey Tommy! How'd it go?"
The blonde shrugged, just like he always did. "Fine I guess."
"That's good." Wilbur offered a smile. "Ready to go?"
Tommy nodded, falling into step beside Wilbur. They left the building, heading towards home.
An idea popped into Tommy's head as he got lost in his thoughts. Maybe he could stop by the library... he had been meaning to get that book that Ranboo suggested. He could simply say it was for a project, Wilbur would probably be ecstatic to hear Tommy actually putting effort into something.
"Can we head to the library before we go home?" Tommy glanced towards the older.
Wilbur chuckled, "Is Tech rubbing off on you?" The was the only person who really ever stepped into a library. Wilbur had a tendency to get kicked out of quiet places, so he stayed far away from them. Tommy sent him glare. "I'm kidding! Of course we can." Wilbur quickly corrected.
The two turned around a corner, heading to the public library instead of their house.
The building quickly came into view, not being that far from where they lived. Wilbur glanced towards Tommy curiously. "What exactly are you looking for?"
"It's for a school project." Tommy swiftly lied, not wanting Wilbur to get suspicious. He wanted to keep Wilbur out of it as much as possible. The less questions, the better.
"Yeah, I get that." Wilbur rolled his eyes dramatically. "But what's it about?"
"Nothing, you'll see later."
"But-"
"Wilburrrrr." he whined. "What's with the questions?"
"I was just curious." Wilbur muttered, sighing. "Should I wait outside then?"
"Yes! I don't want to get kicked out."
"Hey!" the brunette protested.
Before he could say anything else, Tommy ran for the door, laughing to himself. He pushed the door open, revealing a large library. Bookshelves lined the walls, creating rows in between everything.
Tommy immediately began searching throughout the shelves, looking for one particular book. The KJ Files.
"Can I help you find something?" Tommy jumped out of his skin, turning towards the voice. A boy floated above the ground, a stack of books in his hands.
"I-uh- yes." Tommy stammered, watching as the boy landed. The brunette put the books down, turning his full attention to the blonde. "Do you have any copies of the KJ Files?"
The boy, "Bad" as his name tag read, nodded. "I believe we do." He lead Tommy to the front desk, immediately typing on the computer. "Just got returned yesterday." He moved to the return pile, searching through the spines. He selected a book, typing in his computer once more. "Here you go."
"Thanks."
"That will be due in three weeks." Bad paused, glazing at Tommy.
"A word of advice kid. Don't believe everything you read."
