Chapter 10- Don't Get Your Hopes Up

Tommy POV

Tommy ran down the sidewalk, the book tucked under his arm. He was closer than ever, he knew it! His eyes drifted off into the distance, quickly spotting Tubbo. His eyes lit up as he raced over to him.

"Hey Tubs!" he shouted, making the brunette glance towards him.

Tubbo grinned, his wings ruffling. "Hey Tommy!" He looked at the book in his hand. "What's that?" He knew Tommy wasn't that big of a reader.

"It's that book Ranboo recommended." he replied, looking around as though he were expecting the boy to be there. "Where is Ranboo anyway? I thought he was planning on hanging out with us?"

Tubbo bit his lip, shifting uncomfortably. "He's uh, busy today. Something came up."

"Oh okay." 

"So the KJ Files." Tubbo changed the subject. "Wait was that written by that wizard guy?" he asked, eyeing the book.

Tommy looked at him, confused. "What makes him a wizard?" From what Tommy had researched the guy was normal. Sure, a little crazy, but nothing from another world.

"He's crazy! Completely obsessed with wings and magic. Doesn't that make him a wizard?" Tubbo questioned.

Tommy shook his head, completely disagreeing. "I'd say he's more of a scientist than a wizard."

The brunette shrugged, seeing his perspective. "Fair enough."

"I started reading last night and I think there might be a way to get them!" Tommy exclaimed, his excitement taking over.

Tubbo glanced towards him, surprised by his outburst. "Get what?" he asked carefully, even though he already knew the answer.

"Wings!"

Tubbo sighed, knowing Tommy had been disappointed before. It had nearly destroyed him. The last thing he wanted to see was the blonde to go through that again. "Tommy..." he began.

"No! No! You don't understand! There really is a chance! This guy can grow wings! He's been studying for years!" Tommy shouted, refusing to let the excitement go. He was so close. He could finally be like everyone else. He could fit in.

"Tommy, this is the same guy who tried to convince everyone time travel was real." Tubbo reminded him.

"But Tubbo just think! I could have wings just like you! Just like Wilbur and Techno, Phil and Puffy! I could be normal!"

Tubbo nodded, "I just don't want you to be disappointed again Tommy. I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you."

The blonde sighed, knowing the boy was just looking out for him. A grin appeared on his face, "So you're coming?"

"Coming where?" Tubbo didn't understand.

"Well wings don't just appear out of thin air. We have to go meet him." Tommy explained, flipping through the pages.

"Meet him?!" Tubbo exclaimed, his eyes wide. "Tommy, you can't be serious! He's crazy!"

Tommy rolled his eyes. "Of course I'm serious! This is a chance Tubbo! I have to take it!" Tubbo just didn't understand. He would do anything to be normal. To have the freedom that comes with wings.

"Well what do Wilbur, and Techno- what does Phil think?! They won't allow you!" Tubbo pointed out. It was just too risky for his liking.

"This isn't their decision! It's mine!" Tommy snapped. "So are you coming or not?" He looked at Tubbo expectedly, figuring he would refuse. 

Tubbo bit his lip, knowing he had no choice. There was no way he was going to let Tommy go by himself. And he knew the blonde was not just going to let it go. 

"Anywhere you go, I go."
