My husband, the phantom of the opera, tends to be quite...busy. That's perfectly alright, by the way! He spends his time underground working on his spectacular pieces of music. It's honestly an honor being able to hear his music before anyone else can...but...!

It can get quite lonely having all this time to myself. Recently though I've been working on something myself...a garden!

I've asked the managers of the opera house if it would be possible for me to start growing a garden right outside the Opera Populaire. After some convincing they finally gave in! The opera house is already beautiful looking but I think with some foliage it would look even better. I've always had a green thumb anyway so this is the perfect opportunity to put it to good use.

While Erik works on his operas I go outside and start planting and growing the most beautiful plants around the opera house. We've even gotten some compliments so hopefully this is a good thing. I've never even told Erik where I go off to everyday, actually I'm not sure he even notices. It's a bit upsetting but when he's in the music groove it's hard to shake him off of it. The only time we really talk is when I get home and I have to pull him away from his organ to eat or sleep. What would this man do without me?

   Erik POV
I've been working hard on my new opera that I would like to introduce the managers...if they'll listen, of course. It's been a daily thing: getting up and immediately going straight to my organ. My days are mostly me just sitting there and finding out what works and what doesn't. Slowly, I've been pulled more into reality though. A break wouldn't be so bad, I suppose.

One question: Where is my spouse?

They are no where to be found which concerns me. Have they gotten angry at my absence in their days? Perhaps I'm thinking too much about this...they come home to make dinner and to make me go to bed. We haven't really talked outside of that though...

Worry fills my brain so I leave to go and find them. They have to be somewhere around here...right?

   Reader POV
A soft hum fills the air as I tilt the watering can towards my plants. After a good day's work I back up to see everything that has been set up.

There's beautiful rose bushes and trees that are still growing. There's flowers of every color you can think of surrounding the building. I'm impressed with how much work has been done in only a few months. Imagine what this place will look like in a year! Two? Three?

My attention goes up to the sky and I see the sun setting. Erik has been working so hard, how about a little present for him?

I sit down next to my rose bush and I pick some of the flowers. Normally, this would anger me but since it's me doing it I don't mind. I'm not incredibly skilled at this craft but knowing Erik he'll appreciate it anyway. I continue the tune I was singing as I relax making this flower crown for Erik. Will he like it? He's not one to wear stuff like this...I'll just have to wait and see.

After a bit of sitting there I hear footsteps behind me. I don't think much of it until I hear, "(Y/N)!"

A small gasp escapes me and I turn around, hiding the crown behind me. Erik looks at me with distraught in his eyes but it slowly turns to relief.

"Oh, my angel...has this where you've been escaping to?"

A smile crosses my face while I stand up, "Yes! Do you like it? You've been so busy recently I thought it would be nice to pick up a hobby...well technically a job now. The managers liked it so much they started paying me to keep it up."

He frowns a bit but then looks around, he genuinely seems interested in the garden which is a good sign. "I'm so sorry for leaving you alone so long...but you've been doing well with your time, I see."

"Oh, Erik! Guess what? I have a present for you."

He turns back to me with eyebrows raised, "A gift? What for? I'm certainly undeserving of one, especially after accidentally ignoring you for so long."

I shake my head, "It's not too bad, and you always deserve gifts. Especially since you've been working so hard recently. You've come right on time, it's just been finished."

The flower crown behind me is revealed and his expression is pretty underwhelming. He doesn't seem to know what to think of it. Before a word can come out I place the flower crown on his head, "Ta da!"

His hand comes up and lightly touches one of the petals. He speaks softly, "It's lovely, darling. I'm not one to usually wear things like this though."

   "I can take it back..?"

"No, it's mine forever. It's my favorite present I've ever received."

A burst of giggles escapes me right after he says that. Wow, he changed his mind rather quickly. He laughs alongside me and continues, "I really do love it, thank you love. Does it look good on me?"

My blushing face and nod answers that for him. He holds onto my hand, "Shall we go downstairs now? I'll help you make dinner."

"That sounds lovely. Seriously though, you can take it off if you don't like it."

He shakes his head as we start making our way back into the opera house, "I'm going to keep it on, I wasn't lying when I said I loved it. I'll only take it off when I have to go to sleep."

Another round of giggles happens, "Okay, perhaps that's liking it a bit too far." He ignores that comment and we go back down into his lair to make dinner together.
