Gustave is scared because of a thunderstorm and wants to be comforted by his father.

Would you guys like if I did more than just x reader in this book? I've been thinking about it for a while now if I did more!

-----------------------------------------

Lightning flashes throughout the room with a loud boom coming after it. Rain pounds down on the roof and slides down the windows, the wind makes the house creak and makes the outside world even scarier with moans and cries. The curtains covering the windows do nothing to hide the terrifying flashes. The light illuminates objects in the room and creates an ominous long shadow behind them. The darkness extends out to the poor boy cowering alone in his bed, like a creepy claw ready to drag him under his bed. Gustave lets out a petrified whimper as the thunder shakes his room. He tries to conceal himself under his covers, but it does nothing to stop his worries.

When Christine was alive she was always the one to comfort him, but now she is gone. The one who he thought was his father never did anything to help, he actually only made things worse. Whenever he thought Gustave was getting too "unruly" with his cries he simply lifted his hand up, that was enough to send the boy running off to go hide somewhere and try to calm down on his own. Or he would ignore him and gesture him away with a bottle in his hand. The times he couldn't calm down resulted in red handprints on his body, if it was bad enough it would bruise. Raoul and Christine argued a lot because of his actions, but they never lasted too long out of fear of him taking it out on her instead. A tear rolls down his cheek as Gustave remembers those times. He misses his mother greatly, but it is a relief that she doesn't get treated poorly anymore.

Another lightning strike breaks Gustave out of those memories. No matter how much he tries to suppress these fears they still don't stay down. He yearns for his papa that is just in the other room. Would Erik find his reaction silly and make him go back to bed? His heart drops at the thought of it. No...Erik is nice. He would respect his fears and help him through them. Gustave slips out of bed repeating those thoughts to himself.

Three knocks wakes Erik up from his slumber. He tries to open his eyes while figuring out if he was dreaming that noise or not. Before he can come to a conclusion about that the door opens to reveal his son with a terrified expression. His parental instincts kick in and he sits up quickly hoping nothing bad happened, but right after he remembers something important: his deformity. He gasps and covers his deformed side with his large but skinny hand.

He will never forget the time he happily revealed his face to his son only to be met with his screams. He vowed to himself to never scare his child again with his face. He never wanted to disturb his son with his horrible sin again, but here he is maskless with his son in front of him. His mask and wig lie on his dresser, much too far for him to easily grab. Erik goes to get up to grab these things, but Gustave climbs in his bed and grabs his hand to keep him in place.

Erik sucks in his breath and mumbles, "Gustave, I am here, let me grab my mask first though."

"No Papa, please don't. I want you just as you are." He grips onto his father's nightshirt tightly in fear of him moving away. He presses his face into his chest, "I am sorry for my reaction to your face the first time, but I am not afraid anymore. Please keep your mask off when it's just us."

Erik's eyes widen from the sincerity of his son. It could bring him to tears, but Gustave's fear of something else keeps it at bay. He pressed a soft kiss to the top of his head, "I promise to not wear my mask and wig around you anymore. Now my boy...what is bothering you?"

As he goes to answer the storm outside rages louder. A quick lightning flash covers the room, as fast as the crack in a whip. Right after a low rumble shakes the walls. Gustave whines and gets into his father's lap in an attempt to hide away from the scary noises. All of that makes Erik understand what is wrong. He rubs his back slowly while pulling him closer.

"I understand the storm is loud and scary, but know it is just lights and sound. It will not harm you. Nothing is going to harm you, not while I am around." He rocks them back and forth at a slow tempo, the whole time he continues to press kisses on his head. Once Gustave stops shaking, his father makes him lie down beside him. "Would you like to sleep in my bed tonight?"

Gustave nods and whispers a soft, "Thank you."

Erik smiles warmly and gets comfortable in bed while bringing the covers over them. He pets Gustave's head, his fingers feel through his son's hair. He missed out on moments like this for the first ten years of his life, but he is so thankful to be able to do this now. It is his son and him for now on and Erik wouldn't have it any other way. Gustave smiles from his father's love, it distracts him from the storms outside. They snuggle in even closer towards each other.

Erik whispers, his gentle voice wraps around Gustave's heart and comforts him even more, "It is late, close your eyes. Remember I will be here all night and until you wake. You are safe."

"I love you," Gustave blurts out before closing his eyes for the night. Erik presses one last kiss for the night on his son's head.

"I love you too, with all of my heart and soul."
