Part 2

The next day I woke up thankful it was my day off work and my day of no classes. I tried to slept in but it was still only 8am. I headed out to the living room in my shorts and tank top pajamas. As I walked into the kitchen to get a cup of coffee I heard someone clear their throat and I turned to see Johnny standing there smirking at me.

"What are you doing here?" I asked.

"I stayed the night, so did Ben. We were working late, which you knew since you came home at 11 and we were still here." Johnny said and I half nodded. I handed him the cup of coffee I just poured myself.

"Thanks." He said as I poured me another cup.

"You got work or school today?" Johnny asked and I shook my head.

"No, thank god. My days off finally aligned." I said and Johnny half smiled.

"What are the plans today?" Johnny asked as I sat at the kitchen table and he joined me. I looked at him oddly.

"Johnny, what are you doing?" I asked and he sighed.

"Okay, I am trying not to make this whole interaction with us less awkward." Johnny said and I laughed.

"You are making it more awkward by wanting to talk. Johnny, this isn't who we are to each other. We are not polite to each other." I said and he laughed.

"Well good I can stop pretending." Johnny said and got up taking his coffee out of the kitchen. I rolled my eyes as Ben came walking in.

"Good morning sunshine." Ben said and I looked at him as he walked over and kissed my cheek. Ben was the best guy any girl would be proud to know and have protect her, he was like a second brother to me.

"No one thought to warn me that Johnny stayed the night? A text, note on the door....anything?" I asked and Ben groaned.

"Yeah sorry about that. I thought Reed or Sue would have said something." Ben said and I shook my head.

"Nope." I said and finished my coffee putting the cup in the sink. I poured another 2 cups for Reed and Sue.

"They in the lab already?" I asked and Ben nodded. I grabbed the cups and headed to the lab.

"Hey, I bring coffee." I said and they smiled at me.

"Thank you." Reed said smiling at me. I handed him the cups and looked at all of his computer screens and some had math figurations and other were space photos. I looked at his one math equation and sighed.
"Reed, this is wrong." I said and he looked at it and then back at me.

"No it's not." Reed said. Sue came walking over.

"What is wrong?" Sue asked and Reed sighed.

"It's not wrong." Reed said annoyed. I grabbed a pen and paper from his desk. I copied the problem and then worked it out correctly and handed it to Sue.

"When he stops being so damn stubborn, give him this." I said and walked out. Half hour later I was sitting in my room doing homework when Reed knocked on my half open door and walked in.

"You were right." Reed said and I tried not to laugh in his face.

"Can I say I told you so later? I am working." I said and Reed laughed.

"Yeah sure." Reed said and went to leave but stopped.

"Are you sure you don't want to be the one to check all my math on this space trip for me?" Reed asked and I shook my head.

"Sorry big brother no. I am not crazy about this mission any ways and I don't want to help you with it." I said.

"Why not? It has to be more than you just don't like it." Reed said.

"Reed, what if something happens to all of you up there? I mean things happen! You, Sue and Ben are the only family I got and I can't lose you." I said and Reed sighed walking over and wrapped me in a hug me.
"We will be fine. We have worked out all the variables." Reed said and I huffed a laugh.

"Right and I just fixed one." I said and Reed sighed. I then groaned.

"I will be out in half an hour to check everything." I said and Reed smiled.
"Great." Reed said. I then looked at myself still in my pajamas.

"I need to put on some regular clothes." I said and Reed nodded. He left the room and I went and put on a pair of faded blue jeans and a red low cut V-neck t-shirt. I walked into the lab again and looked at Reed.

"Where do you want me?" I asked and he showed me to his desk.

"Is she part of this mission now?" I heard a voice asked and looked to see Johnny.

"Would that be a problem?" I asked him.
"Well I just don't think we should be adding more people to this mission." Johnny said.

"You worried about me and my safety Johnny?" I asked walking up to him and getting close trying to make him uncomfortable.

"Worried about my own. Can have you screwing this mission up for us." Johnny said.

"You know what, screw you!" I said and shoved him.

"I came in here to check Reed's math to make sure nothing happens to you guys while on this mission because they are the only family I have and I need their safety!" I half yelled still in his face.

"Yeah well same goes for me! And I am one of the ones on this mission so I would appreciate it if you wouldn't come in here just to cause problems." Johnny said.

"Cause problems?! I am here to help Johnny!" I yelled. Before I knew what was happening there was an arm wrapped around my waist lifting and moving me away from Johnny and it was Ben.

"Okay you two separate sides of the room." Ben said and moved me over where Reed wanted me. I noticed Sue moving Johnny to the other side of the room.

"You are only the pilot on this mission Johnny, leave the math and science to the actual doctors and scientist." I said and Ben groaned.

"Hey, stop. Just sit and work." Ben said and I groaned as Reed handed me some math equations he had figured out and his laptop. I put my glasses on and started working. As I was working on his math and checking everything I found something that didn't make sense and I went to find Reed to ask him but he was in the middle of a conversation with Johnny so I stopped because I couldn't be seen around the corner.

"Are we sure she cares about our safety?" Johnny asked.

"Come on Johnny stop." Reed said.

"I'm serious Reed! What does she get by helping us?" Johnny asked.

"Safety for my family and friends Johnny, even for you too. Cant have the women of New York mourning your lose. What a sight that would be at your funeral, all women, no men...at least I don't think men, not exactly sure what you're into." I said coming out of hiding and Johnny growled.

"What were you insinuating?" Johnny asked and I shrugged.

"Nothing, just curiosity." I said.

"You know what they say about curiosity...." Johnny said and I groaned.

"What did you need Gracie?" Reed asked and I showed him an equation and he figured out what I was missing. Johnny laughed and I just looked at him.

"Problem?" I asked.

"Well Reed asks you to find problems with hiswork then you end up having to ask him a question. Are you really as smart asyou think you are?" Johnny asked and I rolled my eyes. I grabbed my work fromReed and went to leave the room.
"You know Johnny believe it or not I want all of you safe on this mission, notjust my family and friends, even assholes like you." I said and walked out ofthe room.
