Part 8

"So are you going back to Reed's tonight?" Alicia asked as we sat and drank coffee. Alicia was a great friend I met way back in college. I was 15 and she was given the task of rooming with me. We often made the joke about the blind leading the blind but in her case it was true since she was actually blind. We had been friends since and even though there was a 3-year difference we didn't mind.

"No, I was supposed to go to Victor's but I think I might go back to Johnny's." I said and Alicia smiled at it.

"It's not like that." I said.

"And Victor is okay with this?" Alicia asked.

"He doesn't know yet. I may just tell him I have a lot of studying to do." I said.

"You don't have any classes the next 3 days after today." Alicia said.

"No but I have to work so...." I trailed off and she shook her head.

"Can you just drop him already?" Alicia. Said.

"Alicia! Come on, he isn't that bad. He just isn't everyone cup of tea." I said.

"Very acquired taste." Alicia said and I shook my head.

"Don't shake your head at me." Alicia said and I hated how she could do that. I looked at my watch.

"Listen I have to get to class. You want me to take you somewhere?" I asked and she shook her head.

"No, I am meeting someone here." Alicia said and I smiled. I got up, hugged her and kissed her cheek.

"'Okay well I love you and I will call you later." I said and walked out and headed to class. Once class was over I headed back to Johnny's apartment I sat on the couch and called Victor.

"Hey, what time will you be here? I want to make sure dinner is ready." Victor said and I sighed.

"Victor, I don't think I'm going to be making it over tonight. I have so much studying to do and I work the next couple of days, I just think I need to concern myself more with that." I said and Victor groaned.
"Or that's what Reed wants you to do." Victor said.

"You know it isn't like that. Victor, I just need some time to do me for a while. I have done nothing but take care of you, Sue, Ben, Reed and Johnny since the accident. I am behind on my schoolwork and I really have to study and I was offered a place of peace and quiet to do so. Please understand." I said and I realized for some reason I was almost to the point of tears.

"Okay fine, I don't like it. I had something special planned for tonight but fine." Victor said and hung up. I just sighed and threw my head back on the couch and just wanted to cry. I fought back tears, went into Johnny's kitchen and made me some food and then sat down to study and do some schoolwork. Soon I found myself crawling to the bed and falling asleep.

A couple days later after I was all caught up on my work I went to Victor's place to visit him since he had been ignoring all my calls and texts. The door was opened by his assistant.

"Grace, now isn't a good time." He said and I pushed passed him.

"I don't give a shit." I said and walked into Victors place.

"Where is he?" I asked and he pointed towards the office. I walked into the office and the lights were super dim and I was confused. I went to turn them up.

"DON'T!" I heard Victor yell from the front of the room.

"Why are you sitting in the dark?" I asked confused.
