Lumine sat alone, bored out of her mind as Baizhu continues to discuss more and more about figurative language. She could feel herself roll her eyes aggressively, already familiar with the topic after years of reading books and being retaught the same lesson.

The only reason they were even discussing figurative language was that a bunch of other students failed a test that had portions about figurative language. Eventually, her rage dissipated and turns into sleepiness, letting her head fall to the ground a bit.

Her forehead touches cold plasticky wood and she rests her eyes, the top of her head facing the front. She knew Baizhu wouldn’t mind or pay attention for when he gets into rants, he forgets everything else. The man could rant and lecture his way through a fire.

She then turns her head and lays against the desk on her cheek, her forehead probably red as a tomato. Her eyes drift around to the left side of the classroom, seeing Amber who seemed to be very focused, taking notes and nodding along to Baizhu. Lumine silently applauded the girl, always amazed at how she was able to be so focused and studious compared to her procrastinating ass.

Then behind the red girl, was a familiar ginger, Childe. Lumine stares at the Snezhnayan exchange student, always intrigued by him. When first seeing him, she couldn’t help but find him rather annoying, asking dumb and irrelevant questions to the class, making obnoxious jokes to others, and being overly passionate about something for no reason. It all sent her eyes rolling to the back of her head and her bloodstream getting agitated.

But then time passes, and she found the fellow student bearable, less annoying, and rather weirdly charming. Like the time he did the semester project, she noticed the ginger after school practicing alone, very critical of himself. Now she occasionally laughs at his dumb jokes that he would loudly make in class.

“Now another type of figurative language is an ass-” Baizhu instructed, his eyes closed and pointing to the board as he was about to write an example before getting loudly interrupted by a specific student.

“Teacher that’s a bad word!” Childe shouts out, then chortling. Lumine giggles softly, despite knowing how deeply dumb and immature the joke was, she couldn’t help but do so.

Baizhu pauses for a mere moment then quickly rolls his eyes, making no comment and continuing with his lecture. Childe giggles again, his laughter becoming infectious to Lumine.

Her head still laying sideways on the desk, she stares at the ginger boy, finding his freckles and orange carrot top hair cute. Her hand felt trigger ready, barely hesitating to reach out and touch it, pat it, but it was impossible since Amber was in between the two.

“That’s odd, I haven’t felt this way in a while,” Lumine recalls, remembering her last crush was Xiao but then he started dating Venti. She was slightly heartbroken but she got over it, seeing that she had no chance against the very attractive classmate.

“Childe! Since you seem eager to get out of your desk, how about you give me an example of a metaphor?” Baizhu commands, putting the marker down and moving to the side. Childe tilts his head, caught off guard by the sudden request. So was Lumine, worrying that she might be called next, not in the mood of having all of her classmates’ eyes on her.

“Okay teach,” Childe says, quickly getting up and moving to the front of the classroom. Lumine quietly groans, having to move her head if she wanted to keep facing the now attractive in her eyes, ginger.

She puts her arms onto the desk and pillows her chin at the middle of her crossed arms, watching the tall, lean, and broad Snezhnayan draw on the giant whiteboard. He reaches high up, causing his shirt to rise and leave a glimpse of his muscular back to the classroom, a sight that leaves Lumine in red.

“Whoops,” Child says, clearly aware that the classroom saw his muscular back, laughing it off. To Lumine, it’d left her heart pounding, shocked at such a hot mental picture. She internally wished she could’ve seen more but she also knew that would be weird to ask.

“Here is the metaphor I wrote,” Childe announces, finishing writing and moving to the side. “Her hair color sparkled like a golden beach,” Childe reads out. Lumine gasps, surprised at such a specific metaphor.

“Interesting, but that’s not a metaphor, that’s a simile, go sit back down boy,” Baizhu says. Childe chuckles, Lumine curses at herself for believing it was a metaphor in the first place.

Regardless, she looked back at Childe, seeing the ginger relaxing against his seat, smiling happily at everything. He seemed cheery and bright as a sun, ever shining and unable to find a lax in energy. It made Lumine swoon, weirdly loving the energy, a constant positivity she wished she could keep around her at all times.

“Gosh, I wish I could date him,” Lumine thinks. Then her heart clutches, realizing she had a crush now on the boy. She groans a bit, not sure if she should be happy or not. On one hand, he seemed sweet and amazing, totally her type. But on the other hand, she didn’t know the classmate that much and maybe he was really into some weird shit or something, she felt hesitant to begin a relationship with the ginger.

Then a light bulb flickers on inside her head. And then a lightbulb flickers off in real life, next to her.

“Oh, um I guess I’ll get that fixed later,” Baizhu comments, eyes wide open at the broken bulb. Lumine rolls her eyes at it and then focuses on the task at hand. She remembers earlier in the day; they’ve announced the dates for prom.

She had never been to a prom before, never having attended a school that did such a function, so she was intrigued.

Eyeing the ginger, she realized she could test out Childe by asking him out to prom and see how he performs. If he is charming and everything Lumine wishes, then she’ll endeavor in a relationship, if he isn’t what she was hoping for or severely dislikes the classmate, she’ll just break it off and call it one and done.

It was the perfect plan.
