George's POV
I did it. I killed him. I no longer have to worry about Techno. Clay is in worse condition than I've ever seen him before. He couldn't walk right. He leaned most of his weight on me and shakily trekked along.
"Are you gonna make it back home?" I asked and Clay nodded.
"I will. I'm not staying here another second." Clay stated.
"Lean on me. I'm in perfect condition. I'll take care of you." I said.
"You've done too much." Clay insisted and tried to walk without me. He managed, but it was slow and shaky. I raised my eyebrows at him.
"See. Just a couple thousand more steps to go." Clay said and rubbed his back, then hissed at his wrists.
"Just let me help." I said and Clay wrapped his arm around my shoulders. I wrapped my arm gently around his waist and guided him out of the building without being noticed.
When we got outside I saw a truck.
"You know how to Hotwire?" I asked Clay.
"Yeah." He responded and breathed harshly.
"Teach me. Let's get you in your seat first." I said and helped him into the passenger seat of the truck. It was already unlocked.
"Okay, open up the panel under the steering wheel." Clay said and I popped it open.
"Connect that with that." He said, pointing at a couple wires. I clipped them and connected them.
"Okay this is important. Touch those two together slowly and only connect them after the car starts." Clay said. I did as I was told and the truck started up. Clay smiled at me, still hobbled over in pain.
"I did it!" I said and pulled out of the parking spot. I started speeding back home.
"I'm so proud of you." Clay whispered.
"Thank you." I said back. Clay flexed his wrists. I looked over briefly to see bruises around them in rings.
"I'm so sorry I ever believed anything they said." I apologized. Clay laughed.
"Who would have possibly known?" Clay responded.
"Let's promise to never get captured again." I joked.
"I swear to you on my life." Clay said.
We got back home and the door was wide open. Walking in, Techno delivered on his promise. The place is completely cleared out. They even took some of the wallpaper.
"It's all gone." I said.
"Not all of it. Techno didn't get the important stuff." Clay said.
"What's the important stuff?" I asked looking around the completely blank and echoing rooms.
"You and me." Clay said I rolled my eyes.
"We don't have anything." I said and sighed.
"I have you. I don't care about everything else." Clay said and hugged me.
"What do we do now?" I asked. Clay looked around the room.
"I could try and get in touch with Skeppy and Bad. They're about the only people who I trust now." Clay suggested. I crossed my arms.
"The last time we were out with them, Skeppy convinced you to do cocaine." I reminded.
"What? No he didn't." Clay said.
"Yeah. He told me you showed him the Cocaine and he told you to take one last party bump." I explained. Clay looked down at his feet.
"That's not what happened." Clay said.
"Then what happened?" I asked. Clay took a breath.
"I was already using. I was high on it already. I told Skeppy I had some and he told me I should flush it. I didn't listen. You know the rest." Clay explained. I sat in the middle of the room.
"So I hated Skeppy for so long now because I thought he caused you to relapse, only to find out that you lied and had Skeppy lie as well." I said.
"I never asked him to lie. I said you would probably kill me if you knew." Clay said. I took a breath.
"Call him." I said.
"I don't think that's a good idea right now. Let's sort this issue out first." Clay said. I laughed.
"I'm such an idiot. I thought we were past everything." I said.
"We are. We're just picking up some forgotten pieces." Clay reassured. He sat down next to me and hissed in pain.
"Sorry again." I said.
"It's fine. You were forced." Clay said and looked away.
I grabbed his hands and looked him in the eyes.
"Do you swear that you'll never lie to me again? Because I don't think I can do anymore realizations right now." I asked.
"I swear. I never want to hurt you or lie to you ever again. You can trust me." Clay said. I kissed him softly.
"I'd be happy to stay with your supportive and helpful friends. If they will have us of course." I stated. Clay smiled.
"This is good. We got through a lot more shit than any couple ever has. I'd hate to end it over something as dumb as that." Clay said and looked away. I hugged him.
"I love you." I said and tightened my grip. I never wanted to let go of this moment.
"I love you too. More than you know." Clay whispered in my ear. I smiled and felt tears forming in my eyes. Holy shit I love him.
