Clay's POV
It took days of planning and putting together, but finally it's all ready. We decided on a theme, got the drinks sorted for an open bar, and even filled out the boring honeymoon package.
I walked into the room. The sheets we hung on the ceiling draped down the sides of the walls, making the room seem more flowy and soft. The bar was lined with fairy lights and several barstools. The arch wasn't picked by us, but it fit the room perfectly.
"This is it. We're getting married tomorrow." I said and George looked around and laughed.
"Do you think we were too bold making the theme red wedding?" George asked.
"Nah. It's cool." I said and took one last look at the room.
We walked out and found Quackity. We told him things were ready and he grinned.
"Excellent. You have done well. George will be temporarily reassigned rooms for the night." Quackity said. We looked at each other.
"Wait, why?" I asked.
"Lovers must spend a night apart. Say your goodbyes, the next time you'll see each other is at the wedding." Quackity said.
I turned to George and he turned to me.
"I already miss you." George said.
I leaned down and kissed him. He kissed back and angled his head. If Quackity wasn't standing there, it would have gotten more heated. We pulled away and gasped for air.
"I can't wait for the wedding." I said and George smiled.
"This way." Quackity said and led George away from me. I walked back to the bedroom.
I had trouble falling asleep. I had gotten used to George's body heat. No matter what I did, I felt cold. I grabbed George's pillow and tucked it between my legs. It didn't help.
Why couldn't this pillow just be George? Why do I have to listen to these dumb rules? Oh right, Techno.
The next morning I woke up early and forgot George was gone for a second. I rolled to talk to him before remembering. I sighed and got up, putting on my suit and looking in the mirror. The black suit fit me perfectly. I know George is probably getting ready in his white suit right now. I can't wait to see what he looks like. I can't wait for after.
I went to the room and Quackity ushered me into the back room to enjoy some drinks.
"Mead?" Quackity asked.
"Sure. Why mead?" I asked.
"It's easy to make, especially underneath the earth." Quackity said and brought over two glasses of mead.
"Are you excited?" Quackity asked and took a sip.
"Obviously. George is the one. I just know it." I said and Quackity smiled.
"You guys are an amazing couple." Quackity said.
"You have no idea." I joked and took a sip.
"I've been watching you guys for the past couple weeks." Quackity said and my eyes went wide.
"Why were you doing that?" I asked.
"I wanted to make sure you guys are serious about this religion. I see the way you help him pray and sign the cross. That's why I decided not to put George into our beginner program." Quackity said. I smiled.
"I'm just doing what he would do." I said and Quackity put a hand on his heart.
"See. Adorable." Quackity said and finished his mead.
"I'm gonna see if they're ready, someone will come get you." Quackity said, I nodded.
I sat alone and drank some mead. I forgot how low my tolerance was. I tried to stop drinking it.
I'll just finish what's on the table. I did and found myself craving more.
"Clay." I finally hear someone call and they take me out of the room.
The music was playing on the other side of the door. As it opened, another door opened across the other room. George stood there, staring at me with the biggest smile. I'm sure I had my own dumb grin on. I walked forward and so did he, we met in the middle and linked arms. We marched up to Quackity and he started the ceremony.
I looked over at George to see that he was absorbed in what Quackity was saying. He had his focus face on. I love his focus face, and all his other faces.
"And I believe they have written their own vows." Quackity ended and George took out a piece of paper and unfolded it.
"Clay, not only are you the strangest relationship I've ever had, your also to best. That counts romantic, platonic, and any other forms of previous relationships. I can truthfully say, you are my best friend, my best husband, and the best thing that has ever happened to me. I love you, and I'm so happy you have decided to marry me. I will work every day to earn my position as your husband." George said. I teared up. I held George's hands.
"That was beautiful, just like you." I said and took out my own vows.
"You know how I feel about you, so I'm gonna tell you what I'm going do about it. I'm gonna make sure that you take care of yourself. I'll keep you safe, and happy. If I can't do that for whatever reason, you can assume the reason is I'm dead. I would have to be dead to be able to stay away from you. I love you. And I will put 100% of my effort into this marriage every day." I said. George's lips curled to a smile and tears started welling in his eyes.
"I love you." He whispered.
"I know." I whispered back. Quackity proceeded.
"So. Now the question that everybody wants to know: do you George take Clay as your lawfully wedded husband?" Quackity asked.
"I do." George said without hesitation.
"And do you Clay take George to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
"I do." I said, as soon as the sentence ended.
"Then, without further ado, I now pronounce you two husband and husband. You may kiss the George." Quackity said and I laughed and pulled George in, letting him close the gap and kiss me.
Everyone cheered and the confetti dropped around us. Everything felt perfect. I was with George. Nothing else mattered.
The rest of the wedding went just as well. Everyone got drunk and had fun on the dance floor. I tried to not drink, but I got a glass of wine anyway. George came over with his own glass of wine.
"Sure you're okay with that?" George asked and pointed at my glass.
"No, but it's free." I said and finished it. George grabbed my hand.
"Don't spiral again. I can stop you this time." He said.
"I'm fine, thanks." I said and headed to the bar.
