George's POV
That one drunk night was all it took for both of us to go off the rails. Clay is always drunk and I'm constantly armed. Surely nothing but good can come out of that. I still wait for Techno. I can't wait to stab him repeatedly in the gut.

"Where tha fuck is the bred?!" Clay yelled from the kitchen. I stoped boarding up the panic room and walked in to see him in his boxers with only the glow of the fridge illuminating him. I guess it got dark, I wonder how long I was down in the panic room for.
"Have you been drinking?" I asked angrily.
"Nah.. no.. not me.. I'm the most... not drunkest person in the room. You're drunk." Clay muttered.
"Do you know what time it is? No seriously, I threw my phone in the pool a few hours ago." I asked.
"Uhhh Thursday I think?" Clay responded and flopped onto the counter.

"We're gonna die!!! No brrreeeeeaaaad!!!" Clay sung loudly and badly. I looked around to make sure Techno didn't hear that.
"Shut up! What if he heard that! Now he knows we're out of bread." I said and scratched the scab growing on the back of my neck.
"Get bread." Clay demanded.
"You're a fucking drunk Clay! I'll be in the panic room NOT getting murdered to death by Techno." I yelled. Clay stood up and tripped over his own feet.
"Wait George.. Oof. I can help." Clay said.
"How?" I asked.
"I know how to do things ya know." Clay said.
"I don't know. But I'll take any help so get in." I said and pushed him into the panic room.

Once in I rechecked the supplies. It looks like we should be able to stay in here for two years without leaving. We just need to live in a tiny space with no indoor plumbing, no wifi, and minimal noise. How hard can that be?
"Okay, I'm locking us in. I think we're ready." I said.
"Hold on." Clay said and handed me a half finished bottle of whiskey. He stumbled out of the room into the kitchen.

I heard several crashes and glass noises, then Clay came back in holding what I can only assume is every bottle of whiskey in the house. He dumped them into a pile on the floor and grabbed his half bottle from me.
"Seeeeeeal errrup!" Clay yelled and I rolled my eyes.
"Rule three." I said and Clay covered his mouth.

I locked us in completely. I tweaked the computer to be slightly more encrypted. I know it won't save us fully, but it will give me time to aim my gun.
"George!" Clay whisper-yelled.
"What!" I whispered back.
"I love you." He said then smiled like an idiot. I rubbed my temples.
"Of all the moments I had to be trapped in a small space with you, you choose to be a drunken idiot." I complained.
"Hey! I'm still in love with you bitch." Clay whispered and I smiled softly. I looked away scratched my neck again. Clay grabbed my wrist and rubbed the scab on my neck.

"When did that get there?" Clay asked.
"It's been there. You've been too drunk to notice." I said. Clay looked down and started crying.
"No wait. Clay I didn't mean it." I said and Clay turned away from me completely. I took some breaths and looked around the room. What am I doing? I think to myself. Clay turned back to me with wet cheeks.

"I'm sorry. I'm an awful boyfriend." Clay said and started crying again into my chest. I had finally calmed down a bit. I would know if Techno were here.
"You're not. I am." I said and Clay wiped his tears and hugged me.
"You are literally the reason I am the way I am! Without the booze." Clay said. I smiled again.
"Yeah, well you got me to realize how bad my parents are. It took me long enough." I said back. Clay laughed.

"You went out of state to get my divorce papers signed." Clay said.
"You literally took a bullet for me." I said.
"That doesn't even come close to the abuse you took from Techno." Clay joked. I half laughed, half panicked. It was like I saw myself all beat up that way again. Like I could barely move.
"Do I have to remind you? You stitched up my knife wound, and took care of me for weeks after that." I said and ran my fingers though his hair.

"George, I have a very important question to ask you." Clay announced.
"Okay, what is it?" I asked.
"It's okay if you say no. I will be unaffected by your answer either way, but I really hope you say yes." Clay said. I looked at him, confused.
"Just ask the question." I demanded. Clay got down on one knee and held my hands. I laughed.
"Will you marry me?" Clay asked and I laughed even more.
"Clay, I'm already engaged." I said and Clay looked down.
"Oh. He must be a lucky guy." Clay said and started crying. I laughed again.
"Clay! We're getting married next summer!" I said and Clay looked up and smiled.
"Really?" He asked and gave me a drunken grin. I cupped his face in my hands and kissed his forehead, looking into his googly drunk eyes.
"Yes. Really." Clay smiled big and hugged me.
"This is the best day of my life." Clay whispered in my ear. I smiled. I kind of forgot how much he loved me. I was too blinded by the chance we could both die at any second.
"I love you so much. I'll make you happy." Clay whispered.
"I know." I whispered back.
