Dream's POV
I felt awful. Generally speaking and emotionally speaking. I totally rely on George now. Everything hurts. Why does he stay? Least I can do is see if I got a house we can stay in that hasn't had a surprise renovation.

Luckily I picked up a cheap phone on the way to the house. I prayed that Skeppy's number was still the same. I called him and he picked up.
"City morgue! You kill it, we grill it. This is Skeppy." Skeppy said.
"Hey. It's Clay. I ran into a bit of trouble." I said and I heard a gasp.

"I thought you were dead!" Skeppy said excitedly.
"Not yet. Can me and George crash with you for a bit?" I asked bluntly.
"Don't even have to ask. Of course." Skeppy said and I sighed with relief.
"Thanks, we'll be there soon." I said and hung up. I looked at George, realized that I was leaning my entire body on him during the conversation.

"I'm sorry." I said and tried to move. I hissed in pain, George grabbed my hand pulling me towards him.
"Stay. You're hurt. I'll get the car started, then I'll help you over." George said. I nodded.
"Okay." I said and George helped me lay down on the floor so that my weight is distributed. Everything felt like it shouldn't be working.

George returned immediately after starting the car and pretty much carried me over. I sat in the passenger seat and felt tears welling.
"You okay?" George asked.
"Just a bit of pain. It won't kill me." I said and George shot me a concerned look. He walked around and got in the driver's seat.

"You're sure you're okay?" George asked again.
"Don't worry so much about me." I stated. George sighed and started driving. I looked down at my feet the whole ride. I felt every painful little bump in the road.

We pulled into Skeppy and Bad's driveway. I looked at the house as if all the memories were playing around it. Skeppy had this house since he first started shoplifting. Me and him used to hang out all the time. Now it seems like an entire lifetime ago.

"I'll ring the bell and get them to help you in." George said and started getting out.
"I can walk. Don't bother them." I demanded. George crossed his arms.
"Tell you what, if you can get out of the car by yourself I'll allow it." George said. I nodded and opened the door, hearing my wrist crack.
"Ow fuck." I said as I pushed the door open. I looked at George and squinted my eyes.

"Just because I need help doesn't mean we should bother them." I said. George rolled his eyes and left the car, knocking on Skeppy's door. Skeppy and Bad ran over to help me out. I felt humiliated that it took three people to get me in the house. Will it always be this way?

"Is there somewhere we can set Clay up?" George asked. I sighed.
"I'm fine. There's a roof. You can put me back on the floor if you want." I said. George rolled his eyes.
"Don't mind him. He just lost everything so he's a bit salty about it." George explained to the others.
"I'm fine." I challenged. George set me down on the couch and propped my legs up with pillows, rolling me on my back.

"There. Now you'll heal properly." George said and kissed my forehead.
"Thanks babe." I said, defeated.

"What happened to you?" Skeppy asked me.
"Techno. You probably know him." I responded.
"Oh Techno, I used to work for him. It was a great gig. He did this to you?" Skeppy asked.
"Yep." I responded and cracked my wrist again. This time it felt better after cracking.

"So what did you do to Techno?" Skeppy asked.
"I killed him." George said and looked down. He looked internally fearful. Skeppy started laughing hysterically.
"What's funny?" I asked.
"You can't kill Techno! And I meant: what did you do to piss Techno off?" Skeppy asked.
"I may owe him some money." I explained. Skeppy took a sharp breath in through his teeth.

"Yeah. That would do it." Skeppy said.
"Did he ever try to capture you?" George asked.
"Nah. We were always on good terms. I was his bailout for the longest time. The gigs were... high pay to say the least." Skeppy explained.
"What's a bailout?" George asked.
"I prefer the term escape artist." Skeppy responded.

"So you like..." George trailed off.
"Break out of prisons? Yes. It also helps take years off of others records. I think Techno gave me at least twenty life sentences." Skeppy joked.
"Sounds like such a great boss." Bad said.
"Yeah, Well you would take twenty life sentences as well if around fifty billion dollars was in play." Skeppy said.

I fell silent during the conversation. I couldn't take the thought of Skeppy working for Techno. What if he's still working with Techno? Why would he tell us?

"So Anyways, there are some house rules I'm assuming Skeppy didn't go over." Bad announced.
"Oh my god! Every time!" Skeppy yelled. Bad grabbed Skeppy's collar and pulled Skeppy towards him. He whispered something in his ear that made Skeppy turn red instantly.

Skeppy stepped back and cleared his throat.
"Okay. Continue." Skeppy said. I looked at Bad half proudly, and half fearfully.
"Okay. Rule one, no swearing." Bad started. Skeppy opened his mouth as if to make a joke and Bad shot him a look. Skeppy turned red again and looked at his feet.
"Rule two, no damaging the house." Bad said. Skeppy laughed.
"That applies to you especially." Bad said, pointing at Skeppy.
"Those ninja stars were an accident." Skeppy defended, leaving me with too many questions.

"Rule three, always make sure we know where you're going and when you'll be back." Bad said.
"So just, follow every mom rule?" Skeppy said.
"If you want to be wrong, then yes." Bad replied. I looked at George. He still looked distant, as if he was thinking about something distressing. I nudged him gently. He looked over at me and gave me a half smile. I half smiled back.

"Anyways... are we clear on the rules?" Bad asked.
"Yes." Me and George said in unison. We all look at Skeppy.
"Yes, whatever." Skeppy said and walked off. Bad followed him.

"So, this place then?" I asked George.
"Hmm? Oh yeah." George said. I tried to sit up and immediately fell back over. George snapped out of his emotional state.

"Why did you do that?" George asked and helped reposition me on the couch.
"I was trying to kiss you." I said sadly. George smiled and kissed me. I wrapped my arms around his neck and brought my lips to his ear.
"Tell me what's wrong." I demanded.

"Skeppy said Techno doesn't die." George said. He sat by my feet again.
"So? We saw him bleed." I reassured.
"Yeah, but what if he's still somehow alive? What if he wants revenge on top of the money?" George asked.
"I don't want to worry about that. I just want to become independent again." I said.

"What? My love and care isn't good enough?" George joked.
"It's amazing. I just never been completely dependent on someone. Or anyone I should say." I felt more tears coming. George sighed.
"It's the least I can do. You do too much for me." George said and I laughed.

"I kidnapped you. More recently you singlehandedly saved my life." I said and looked away from him.
"That's not how I see it." George said and I looked back over at him.
"Then how do you see it?" I asked.
"You saved me from a toxic household, then housed me and tended to my every need. More recently, you gave up everything you had just for a chance that I'll be safe." George said and I nodded.
"Still doesn't mean you should be stuck with me." I said.
"Well too bad. I'm stuck." George said and got off the couch. He cupped my face in his hands and kissed my forehead.
"I'll let you know when I don't want to be here. I'm staying until then." George said.
"That sounds nice." I admitted. George smiled.
"Get some rest, it's been an exciting day." George joked and tucked me in.
"I love you." I told him.
"I love you too." He responded.
