George's POV
We sat at the hospital. I sat, Clay was pacing back and forth between all the other full chairs. Everyone looked at me like he was my fault.
"Clay, sit down." I said and he looked at me, stopping completely. He stood motionless then nodded and sat down next to me. I realized Clay was shaking and looking around a lot.
"Are you going to be okay?" I asked him.
"Huh? Oh yeah... okay." He answered and balled himself up. I wanted to stop this.

"Clay and George!" A doctor calls us and leads us to Scott. Scott laid down, lifeless. Nothing hooked up to him.
"We did all we could. I'll give you two a moment before we proceed." The doctor said and left us in the room alone with him.
Clay walked over to the bed and cupped Scott's face. Then Clay covered his own face and started crying. I reach out my arms for him and he walks into them. He wrapped his arms around me as he continued crying.
"It's hard. I know." I say to him and he finally gets off me and wiped his eyes.
"He just..." Clay trailed off. His lip started trembling.
"You want to know how I got through? When it was you?" I asked and Clay nodded.
"I told myself that even though you're gone, the time we spent can never be replaced. If you had to die, I'd rather it be in my arms. In Scott's case, he'd want you to be the one here." I explained and Clay looked at Scott again.
"You've got a family now." He said to Scott and smiled.
"You ready to talk to the doctor?" I asked.
"Yes." Clay responded, sounding more confident.

We got the doctor and he gave us Scott's lawyer's number to sort out the rest. We made plans for the body to get cremated.
"We can wait to plan the funeral." I tell Clay.
"No." He responded.
We went to the lawyers office.

"Well it seems that Scott only owned one thing. Since you're the only family member of his not in prison it goes to you." The lawyer explained.
"That's a first." Clay joked.
The lawyer handed Clay a key to a storage unit.
"This is the only asset he had. Everything else is now void." The lawyer said. We thanked the lawyer and left.

At the storage unit we both stood in front before opening it.
"You know, whatever we find in here is whatever Scott's life was worth." Clay said.
"Well, whatever we may find, we'll make sure we take care of it. For Scott." I said. Clay opened the storage unit. Wall to wall there was nothing. The unit didn't even have dust on the floor.
Clay started laughing.
"Um... Clay?" I asked and Clay ran into the unit.
"Look at it! My brother died! All he ever owned was an old kill chamber!" Clay laughed. I walked in slowly.
"How can you tell it's a kill chamber?" I asked.
"Take a sniff. Scott used bleach but not enough." Clay joked and started hysterically laughing again. I took a breath and smelt a lot of bleach with a hint of expired meat. I turned my attention back to Clay.
"You're scaring me Clay. What's so funny?" I asked.
"Scott was worth nothing! He never got to do anything! And now he never will." Clay claimed then collapsed on the floor.
"It's funny. If I had died five years ago, I would have been just like him. Crazy how life works." Clay started crying again and I sat on the floor with him. He rested his head on my shoulder.
"You're not like him. He wanted to be more like you." I said. And Clay laughed.
"Why would anyone want to be like me?" Clay asked and I wrapped my arms around him.
"Because you have overcome so much and came out on the other end nearly perfect." I explained. Clay laughed.
"You're just saying that." He said.
"Of course I'm saying it. And every time I do you think I'm a liar." I say and Clay starts crying again. I let him, spending about half an hour more in the open storage locker like this. Clay finally stood up.

"Why did it have to be him!" Clay yelled as I sat on the floor. Clay started pacing again.
"There was nothing we could do Clay." I try to reassure.
"There were three of us in that house with Mel! Why was it Scott!" Clay yelled and kept pacing, cracking his knuckles.
"Would you prefer me dead?" I asked. And Clay stared at me.
"That's not what I was saying!" He yelled at me.
"Then what are you saying?" I asked. Clay walked over to the wall.
"I'm saying I should have just let Mel kill me! Scott wouldn't be dead! You wouldn't have even woken up until it was over!" Clay yelled and put his fist through the wall. He pulled it back out and shook it like it hurt.
"Well I'm glad you didn't do that." I said.
"So you wanted Scott dead!" Clay yelled.
"No I want you alive!" I finally yelled and Clay nodded and sat back down next to me.

"Do you know what sucks the most?" Clay asked peacefully.
"Not really, but go ahead." I responded. Clay took a breath.
"I told him not to do anything stupid before he died." Clay said and started crying again.
"Well, he took your advice right? It's not like Mel was his fault." I asked. Clay laughed slightly.
"I can't believe I had a brother for a moment." Clay said.
"But you knew him way before this right?" I asked.
"Well yeah. He was always the weird kid at the group home. I never talked to him really, but he got into the habit of calling everyone brother and apparently collecting hair." Clay said.
"It sounds to me like he was always your brother then." I say and Clay nods.
"Yep. My annoying little brother. It's just a shame he's gone." Clay said.
"He had one hell of a big brother." I said and Clay held me close again.
When the time felt right, we eventually left the unit and sold it back to the storage depot.
