George's POV
We got up the next morning. I was still wrapped in Clay's arms. He started shifting and I realized we were both still naked. I felt my face heating up.
"Clay. We need to get up." I whispered and Clay hugged me tight.
"No." He groaned.
"Can I get up?" I asked. Clay groaned.
"No." He said. I hugged him back.
"What would Quackity think of you?" I asked. Clay laughed.
"You're one to talk." Clay said back.
"We got..." I looked at the clock, "... one hour before morning prayer." I said. Clay's eyes fluttered open.
"I wish we could just stay here." Clay said. I smiled.
"I want that too, but if we want to stay here we have to contribute." I said and kissed his neck.
"The lettuce will grow itself." Clay joked.
"Not without your careful attention." I said and Clay smiled.
"You're too cute." Clay said.
"I'm not that cute." I said and Clay kissed my forehead.
"Yes you are. No take backs." He said. I sighed.
We finally rolled out of bed and threw our robes on. We went to morning prayer and knelt while Quackity read some scriptures.
Afterwards, Quackity found me and Clay.
"Hey, guys. What did you decide?" Quackity asked. Clay grabbed my hand.
"We would love to be an example." Clay said and I nodded. Quackity smiled.
"That's good. That means we can start the healing process." Quackity said.
"What's that?" Clay asked.
"Well, you guys have both committed sins above ground, so the only way to begin a healthy marriage is to be forgiven first. Your past actions may remain if you do not ask for the Lord's guidance." Quackity explained.
"So we have to go to confession?" Clay asked.
"Yes. I'll meet you over there." Quackity said and Clay guided me away.
"What's confession?" I asked and Clay laughed slightly.
"It's where you talk about all the bad things you've done. Then the priest will tell you to do a lot of praying." Clay explained.
"That's all we do is pray." I complained.
"Would you rather be gutted?" Clay asked.
"Ok. Fair enough." I said and walked into the chapel.
Clay walked towards a box with two doors.
"You stay out here and wait your turn." Clay said. I listened.
Quackity walked over and smiled at me before entering the box as well.
Hours passed. Clay spent a long time in that box. He must have had a lot to confess. He walked out with a changed look on his face.
"Clay, are you okay?" I asked. Clay nodded and walked past me, kneeling in front of the bench.
"Next." Quackity said, looking at me. I stepped in hesitantly.
There was a moment of silence.
The wall between me and Quackity had one window that could barely be seen through.
"First time?" Quackity asked.
"Yes." I responded.
"Start with forgive me father, for I have sinned." Quackity said.
"Forgive me father, for I have sinned." I said.
"Tell me which commandments have been broken." Quackity asked. I sat in silence for a bit.
"Would you like to hear the Ten Commandments?" Quackity asked.
"Yes, please." I said.
We worked through all of them. Anything that closely resembles a sin, I confessed. At the end, Quackity sighed.
"You have done a lot, why should God forgive you?" Quackity asked.
"Because I never want to sin again." I replied.
"Wanting to be perfect is a sin in itself. I advise you to follow the path you seek, but be weary that you may need to offend God to bask in his light." Quackity said.
"That doesn't make sense." I said.
"It doesn't have to. Your life is what makes you, you." Quackity said.
He scribbled something down on a notepad.
"I want you to do 50 our fathers and 50 Hail Marys." Quackity said.
"I-okay." I said and walked out. I saw Clay, still kneeling. I knelt next to him.
"What are you doing?" I asked and Clay shushed me then spoke.
"Only 100 Hail Marys left." He said.
"What are those?" I asked and Clay laughed.
"What did you get?" Clay asked.
"50 Hail Marys and 50 our fathers?" I said.
"Follow my lead." He said.
Clay started whispering his prayer out loud, I followed along and continued on my own. Then he helped me do the other one. We both exited and Quackity handed us both a folder.
"This is a planner. You're cut from work for the next week. Please fill this out while keeping up with your prayers." Quackity said.
"Thank you." I responded.
We walked back to our room and sat on the bed, opening our folders.
"Shit. They got an actual tavern in here?" I asked.
"Yup. Say what you want about God, he gave us wine." Clay said. I laughed.
"So we actually have to plan this then?" I asked.
"Well, yours is the wedding package. Check mine out." Clay said and turned the title page to face me. It said honeymoon.
"Oh. They have everything down here." I joked and Clay laughed.
"It isn't as exciting as it seems. They just ask whether we need protection or not." Clay said and threw it to the side.
"They're already protecting us." I said and Clay laughed.
"Not that kind of protection babe." Clay said and I blushed and looked down.
"Oh." I said, embarrassed.
"Now we can finally get on with our lives." Clay said. I smiled.
"I love you. There is no one else I would do this with." I said.
"I'd marry you anywhere. I love you too." Clay said and leaned his head on my shoulder.
