This chapter is for that person who politely asked me they wanted more to read!!! (So happy you like this book).
"Stephan come on!" I shout up the stairs for the fourth time. Mom gives me a look, I reply back with another one saying 'what he's taking forever'. I tapped my foot and put my hands on my hips.
"Stephan!" I say again.
"Bella, don't be rude, you take a long time getting ready as well." Mom said silently warning me to stop.
"Yeah when I'm going to school, and that's only because my hair takes forever to dry." I said scoffing.
"Bella!" Mom said a little loud.
"No, no she's right He's taking forever- Stephan!" Ethan put his hands on mom's shoulders calming her and shouting up. For some reason I didn't like how Ethan was touching mom and he probably noticed because he removed his hands and put them behind his back giving a slight smile.
Finally fast footsteps rushed down the stairs and Stephan gave me a dramatic eye roll. "What?" I said.
"If you had to shave you would know how long it takes." He said, but it didn't make sense because guys just had to shave their face, half of it. Us girls had to either have a painful wax, time-taking and short-term shave, or an expansive laser not many could afford.
We went into the garage and Stephan pressed a button to open the gate, then he got in and I decided to sit behind with mom. He started the car and we were out of the driveway onto the neat and clean road.
As we went from one road to another, I realized the whole town was clean and there weren't even half as many honks there were in the city. Not many people were outside either, a couple cars would pass by, and a few people walking their dog, but other than that it was really quiet and seemed lonely.
When we finally arrived to the mall Stephan dropped us off and mom and I decided to go to a store, our neighbor suggested. The store wasn't anything special, racks of clothes everywhere and people working, talking and or attending a customer. Like I expected there weren't many people in the store and mom and I went our separate ways to look for something we'd like. Even though mom and I were alike in many ways, our fashion tastes were very different. Mom would go for vibrant, flowers, dresses, and I would liked wearing jeans and nude colors. I never had a thing for dresses, and nor did I have very attractive features, I was average- except maybe my eyes. I got a lot of compliments about my eyes, but I don't understand what's so special about my eyes that makes them special.
"Bella, look what I found!" Mom said excitedly walking towards me with a shiny pink party dress "Look at this! It'll look great on you!" Mom said when I gave a her a look.
"Mom you know I don't do dresses, especially not one with shiny pink sequins on it and material that sticks to your body." I said facepalming myself.
"I know, but it'll look good in parties?" Mom said smiling, I shook my head in disagreement.
"Fine" Mom said sighing giving up.
I went through a couple racks of clothes and found something more for my liking. It was a light beige knit sweater and was off the shoulder on both sides. It was quite long as well, and the material was so soft I could rock it with my thigh high boots mom told me I would decide to wear once I got older; I guess the boots were pretty cool after all.
*******
"Well that was fun!" Mom said as we carried a couple bags (all the bags were mom's except for the sweater I got) to the parking lot where Stephan said he'd meet us. I gave a nod in agreement then we put the bags in the trunk and sat down.
"Woah you guys shopped alright." Stephan said.
"Excuse me, but we've got an empty wardrobe, unlike you." I said rolling my eyes.
Then suddenly his phone started to ring, and it wouldn't stop ringing "are you going to pick the up?" I asked irritated by the diddle-doodle the phone kept doing.
"Uhm no actually I won't" He said.
"Why?" I asked.
"Because it's a girl I don't know." He said.
"Uh... you wouldn't be so sure if it was a girl you didn't know." I said.
"Oh no I know its' a girl." He said with full confidence.
"Stephan, do you have a girlfriend." Mom asked suddenly.
"Uh I used to, but she was always...glued to me." Stephan said.
"Oh" Was what mom said and then leaned back in her seat.
**********
"Did you guys have fun?!" Ethan asked putting a big dish of lasagna on the dinner table.
"Yeah it was great." Mom said.
"Alright beef time!" Cameron said rubbing his hands together, but Ethan took the hot dish away from him.
"Smallest to eldest." Ethan said and he cut Zack a small portion of the delicious food that was filling up the room now. Then he gave some to me since I was a year younger than Cameron, then he served him and then Stephan, mom and then finally himself.
"Alright, cheers to first night to eating as a family." Ethan said laughing.
"Cheers" We all said.
But suddenly I had lost my appetite even with such a good meal in front of me. Was this it? Was it always going to be like this? Is there never going to be another pajama pizza night with it being me and just mom? These thoughts suddenly started crossing my head and I excused my self to go to the bathroom and splash my face with some water. I was such a child! Wanting mom all to myself, being so attached to mom. I was so selfish!
Sharing is really hard in the first place, and it's even worse when it's a person especially your mom.
Challenge of the week: Hug or tell your mom how grateful and lucky you are to have her; she deserves it so if you don't have the courage- man up and do it!
