"They're here!" Cam shouted up the stairs as the doorbell rang.
"Sweetie hurry up." I heard mom call, her heels clinked on the floor as she approached the door.
I looked at myself one more time in the long mirror in my room. Ethan was doing a barbecue with Ryan's dad out in the backyard, so nothing fancy. I put on a purple blouse and denim shorts with basic pearl earrings.
Then I walked out of my room and went downstairs, where I could hear everyone greeting eachother. The moment I was downstairs, I spotted those brown eyes and they looked right back at me. I gave him a smile before I approached them.
"Bella! It's so nice to meet you again. I've been telling your mother to visit with you for a while." Ryan's mom said looking at mom with a look.
"I'm sorry I forgot to mention, next time I'll bring her along." Mom said laughing.
"Right well you look lovely!" She said.
"Thanks Sofia, you do too." I said my eye twinkiling.
"Oh now don't lie, I couldn't even compare. Trust me, now I know what my son sees in you." She said giving a wink. "You're gorgeous! Inside and out." She said.
"Yes she really is." Mom said patting my cheek. "Alright, now why don't we sit down?" She asked.
"Ooh yes, and I have to see what you've done with the patio, Ethan's kept it a mess." She said excitedly as they started walking in the direction of the backyard.
"I know, it took me hours to clean the place up." Mom said, as their voices drifted off.
"Hey Bella." Stacey said quickly before giving me a hug, I hadn't expected.
"Uh hi." I said laughing.
"My turn." And with that Laila pushed Stacey off me and embraced me. Then before we broke the embrace she whispered. "I can literally feel Ryan's eyes burning holes in my back, I bet he's been waiting for a hug too." My cheeks heated up immediately and I avoided making eye contact with Ryan, or I'd be a hot mess already.
I looked somewhere near his feet, for extra measure, and then I spotted Alice standing behind his legs. I bent down and opened my arms.
"Aren't you going to say hi?" I asked narrowing my eyes in a childish way. She gave me a silly and adorable smile before walking towards me and holding me tight.
"Hey! What about mine?" Steph said frowning.
"You're not Ryan's girlfriend." Alice declared, holding onto me tighter. Stacey and Cam laughed.
"Looks like you'll have to start dating him if you're interested in a hug from Alice." Cam said.
"Unfair Alice, I thought we were better friends than this." Steph said giving a dramatic pout to her, before glancing at Ryan up and down. Which made Stacey laugh hard.
"Gee, who knew, Ryan wouldn't be Stephan's type." Stacey said laughing harder.
"As if anyone was Stephan's type. His standards are higher then the Eiffel tower." Laila said in a low bitter tone.
Stephan's gaze clashed with hers and I saw something go throw them. My eyes immediately shifted to Ryan's who gave me the same doubtful look. What was that about?
I pulled out of Alice's embraced and stood to my full height. "Okay...um, do you guys wanna sit down or something...?" I asked awkwardly, as Stephan and Laila still looked at eachother as if they could slice eachother' s heads off any minute.
"Yeah I think that's a good idea—" Before Cam could finish a door was shut from behind me.
Ethan came out of Zack's room and walked towards us with a smile.
