This was it. The last time they would ever be together, possibly forever. Neil's parents had found out about them and had decided to send Neil to school in Japan. Neither had the money to secretly visit one another. The pair stared into each others' eyes; both boys had snuck out to the roof of the school, the one place no one could separate them. Ripples of light danced across their faces as it reflected off the pool, the few lampposts offering just enough light to see each other. It was painful, knowing this was goodbye, as Max couldn't see Neil off at the train station tomorrow since his mother would be there. Max cupped his boyfriend's face in a gentle and sorrowful gesture. Neither had to speak a word, they could read the other's eyes like a book. They were both filled with sadness and longing and love. Neil all but melted into the younger's touch, knowing it will be short-lived.

A stray tear rolled down Max's cheek, accentuating his grief. The brunette lifted a hand to wipe it away. Both leaned in slowly and shared a deep and desperate kiss. It was slow and full of longing emotion. Their eyes slid shut as they savored each other's tongue for what could be the last time. They pulled each other closer, deeper; like a dying man clutching to his last breath. Their hands gripped to the other's clothes and skin as they held each other. The two were puzzle pieces that fit together, and no matter how far away they were, both teens wanted to scorch the feeling of their touch into the other's skin. Forever. "Neil..." Max hummed breathlessly between kisses, "I love you...so much." Neil felt himself shaking. He broke the kiss and let his head fall as a sob escaped his lips. "I'm sorry...I-I can't-" he couldn't form words as the ravenette combed a hand through his loose, bouncy curls and cooed calming words. They had been each others' sanity for so long and the thought of losing that comfort and connection sent Neil toward the path of a panic attack. He just couldn't lose Max; he couldn't.

Max sat quietly as he expertly comforted his other half, having done it so many times in the past. The 17 year old kissed his partner's neck gently, not letting a second of their precious time together go without reassurance. Neil met his lips once more in another tender kiss, both tasting the other's trembling breath. "I love you too," he managed, "more than anything." Their movements were still slow and thoughtful; and soon Max was pressed up against the half wall that bordered the edge. Both were panting as they dared not to break for air. "Neil..." the younger breathed desperately. They grasped to one another harsher as the contact became even more desperate. The Indian's hands trailed up his boyfriend's shirt, tracing the dull lines of muscle on his pale chest. "Now?" the older breathed heavily, looking into Max's beautiful green eyes. His answer was another deep kiss, which the brunette gladly returned. Neil pushed Max against cold brick once again. At least they could have this moment...neither would never forget this night.

(You know what happened 😉)

The two loosened their grip and parted ways as they made their way back home. The pain was too overwhelming for them both however, and they both ran back into the other's arms. "I'll find you," Max promised as they shared one final kiss, "I promise. Leave me clues." Neil nodded with determination. He knew Max would keep his promise. He would understand any clue he would leave, and the brunette planned to leave them whenever he had a chance in this new and foreign country. With one more squeeze of the hand, they separated. "Goodbye...My Max," Neil whispered into the nightly air. He now had a mission, a reason to keep going. Reuniting with his love. He would see Max again. These were the thoughts running through his mind as he entered this room through the window and laid down with a sigh. It was over. Just like that, he was alone in this world, and it was painful.
