~{Glimpse Into the Future pt 2}~

Neil's P.O.V.

I can't believe this bullsh*t! Someone with the technology required to ripple through time and space just left? He never even tried to explain how it works! If I could've at least observed the contraption then maybe-f*ck it. It doesn't matter now. Perfect opportunity waltzing right on by. Then, he has the nerve of asking if we'd like to visit the future and then leave! He even rubbed it in our face beforehand by smiling! Can you believe this guy?

I spent the small amount of the rest of the day sulking about such an impossible phenomena slipping right through my fingers. Max actually didn't seem all that bothered, like, how the hell? He told me to stop complaining about it since there's nothing we can do about it now but does he not realise how big a deal it would be?! When it was time for lights out, I was completely exhausted, it had been a long day. Max actually when to sleep straight away without a fuss-for once. He had his headphones in when I entered the tent so I just left him alone. I laid down and got comfy, falling asleep almost immediately.

I blinked. It was bright, sun slipped through the open windows. I was standing in front of a doorway in the kitchen leading to a living room. The air was warm. Two cups were in my hands. Am I taller? I looked around, it was my dad's house. Why am I here?-How the f*ck did I even get here? I continued into the living room, someone was drapped over the couch. Was that Max? He looks older. His head hung over the edge of the couch and he was scrolling through a phone. "Uh...," I stood there, not knowing what to say, I was still confused as to what was going on. I mean I knew what was going on, I remember what was happening, I just know I've never actually experienced it. Max had come over to hang out and had been over all day, I'd just gone to the kitchen to get us some lemonade. He looked up at me and smirked. "'Bout time," he teased. I rolled my eyes and handed him one of the cups which he gladly accepted while sitting up, allowing me room to sit next to him. I decided to just roll with it, given I would sound completely crazy if I tried to describe my major brain-fart.

"So what were you looking at?" I asked, trying to start up a conversation. He shrugged and took a sip, "Just makin' sure Nikki's still coming to the sleepover later." I knew about the sleepover, it was actually for me. I wouldn't let him throw a party so he settled for a sleepover with just me and Nikki. It was just weird, nothing seemed real, but everything around me was crystal clear. "Oh, ya," I also took a swig, it wasn't half bad. "Ya know, I really wish you'd celebrate your birthday, let me spoil you a little," he said, chuckling. I looked over to a calender on the wall, it had apparently in fact been my 17th birthday the day prior (which means Max is 16 cause of the b-day gaps). I shrugged, "You know I'm not into all that. Waste of time if you ask me." "Ya, ya," the shorter boy mocked, "I know, I know." "You know, you don't have to do all that for me," I looked over at Max who shrugged again, "You won't let me make a big deal out of it, but it's the least I can do. Besides, David made you a cake and everything." That's right, David was his guardian. He'd adopted the Indian child when he realised how bad the other's home life was. "Now I'm hungry," I joked in a fake whiny tone.

"Oh, poor baby," he glanced at the TV then back to me, "Could I have the remote?" I grabbed the remote which was on a side table to my right and handed it over. My phone dinged so I took it out of my back pocket and froze momentarily. The lock screen was a selfie of me and Max wearing matching mint green t-shirts that read, 'It's our Anniversary mothaf*ckers!' and Max was kissing my cheek. It looked like I was laughing, Nikki was photo-bombing us in the background. My heart skipped beat. Hold on- I opened my phone, a passcode that came naturally for some reason, and went straight to my gallery. The first picture to come up was a selfie of just Max taken in a dark room. The caption read 'I stole ur phone for a lil bit. Dont be mad ;P'. He was pulling down the collar of his shirt and was smirking with his tounge out. The look could've easily been a teasing one, but his intentions were clear in his eyes. My face's temperature skyrocketed as I looked over to the ravenette. He must've read the shock on my face because he started laughing, "Finally found it, huh? I was wondering how much longer it would take. I actually took that picture last week."
