So...Neil is a vampire in this one... I know, it's weird (i promise im not a twilight nerd) but whatever. I'm gonna say that the same rules apply of that in the twilight universe just because I like how that works. It has nothing to do with twilight tho. But, I am changing a few things. Instead of brightly glittering in sunlight, his skin just slightly shimmers and his rate of growth. He's half vampire half human like Renesme but ages like a normal human child. For an "extra gift" he is sensitive to how people are feeling. Ok? Ok. Onward!

Neil's P.O.V.

I grabbed my bag and carefully hopped down the bus steps, careful to move at a normal pace. There is of course, no reason for me to have a bag of supplies, but it would look fairly strange if a kid went to a camp for 2 months with nothing. I suppose, it is good for me to be here though. Good place to practice being around people, not a lot of people around, and it's secluded within a forest in case I need...alone time. I looked around at the snug little camp. There were a few others who got off the bus after me, and a couple others already scattered across the green lawn. The sun shone brightly making my pale skin glitter, barely noticeable to humans, though. There was a girl with minty hair and a dirty band-aid on her left cheek. She was leaning over some kind of animal, I couldn't see it because her body was blocking my view.

Definitely some kind of mammal from the smell of it. I let myself stride a little faster toward her, since no one was paying attention anyway. "Hello," I stated nervously, it had been a while since I'd last socialized with kids my age. My voice startled the girl a little, and she spun around to look up at me. After a moment of unintentional staring, I'm used to it, she smiled and stood. A wave of excitedness surrounded us as she held her hand out to me. "Hi! I'm Nikki, who're you?" I took her hand slowly, feeling her slightly jolt upon contact. Most likely surprised at how cold my hand is on such a warm day. "Neil, just got here," I pointed with my thumb behind me at the bus. "F*ck off, David!" Sounded from across the camp making me glance up. It was just a short glance. A fraction of a second or two, nothing to really hold my interest. Nikki held no reaction.

Two people exited the main building, a tall red-head and a carmel skinned boy with thick, black hair. Nikki was babbling about how she loved adventure and the woods. Then there was a gental breeze which originated from the direction of the two males. It startled me, not easily done. The adult, David I would assume, was nothing special, but there was another smell, something unfamiliar. I did a double take. It didn't necessarily stink, but it made the everlasting burn in the back of my throat worsen. Curiousity got the better of me and I decided to approach said boy. Now that I was closer, I didn't need any aid of the wind to breathe in his strange sent. It surprised me no less the second time. Or third. Oh boy. I swallowed dryly.

"H-hey," I managed to say while slightly waving. He glanced up at me, there was a wave of anger, then confusion. He was able to keep an uninterested look on his face. "'Sup, I'm Max," he said and started walking toward the main area, I trailed close behind. Despite his carefree demener, there was a strange aura surrounding him. I'd never really felt it before, at least not of this intensity, it confused me further. What made him so different? What does this feeling mean? Why does he smell so strange? He must have noticed my frustration because he smirked over his shoulder at me "Hello? What's the matter over there?" His voice was interested yet teasing. "Nothing," I responded quickly, "just something I'm trying to figure out. I am a man of science, after all. This is a puzzle I intend to solve."

I almost laughed at how ironic that statement was, a vampire who liked science, since when did we care about the laws nature set? It's always fascinated me though, finding logical answers to any question. Observing reactions of people to certain stimuli. I now had a new mystery to solve. Max, Nikki and I easily became friends and started doing practically everything together. Max and I even ended up sharing a tent. Though, on the downside, I did have to rely on hunting animals, even I wouldn't take chances with the food they serve here. The burn was becoming easier to ignore, I even forgot about it upon multiple occasions. Then there was Max. Ugh, he drives me crazy. His feelings were sometimes all over the place, sometimes ones I'd never come across. Always running around and wipping his sent everywhere. I swear it smacks me every time I see him as hard as the first day. Sometimes, I'll even physically freeze or flinch as a reaction. He's noticed a few times.

My interest in him has only grown over the last few weeks, and since I don't necessarily need sleep, I've had a lot of time to think about it. One morning, we were awakened to David, very loudly, playing around with some sort of noise maker. "It's not making any noise!" He exclaimed, playing another note. Max winced in response to the noise. What an idiot. I thought and rolled my eyes. I grogily got up to go tell him to shut the hell up when I realized no one else was up. He played a note again. "I don't understand! It's supposed to play tunes!" He spoke once again. Then I realized that the tone was too high for people to hear, no one else was aware of this blaring noise. It would look suspicious if I said anything, so I would just have to endure it.

I slumped back onto my cot, hoping David would lose interest soon. Max was covering his ears with his pillow, hand keeping it to his head. "So f*cking annoying," he huffed under his breath, I could tell he was trying to be quiet enough so I couldn't hear him. I focused on his feelings, mainly just extremely tired and annoyed. But there was something else. Similar to when someone told a white lie to spare someone else's feelings. It was strange, Why would he feel this way now?- Hold on...- "Are you awake?" I asked, pretending to be oblivious to any of it. "Ya-," his breath slightly hitched again when another tone was played. I kept my face unresponsive. I wondered how he could possibly hear it. "What's wrong?" He just huffed at my question and looked away. Another pang of that guilty lying feeing. "Nothing, I just have a headache." It wasn't that he was lying, but I could tell he was keeping something from me. I decided to shrug it off for now and laid back down.

"Do you want some medicine?" I asked, looking up at the tent ceiling. "Nah. I'm gonna just go for a walk," he responded, getting up and putting on his hoodie, still barefoot. Max was acting a bit strange so I decided to wait a few minutes, then follow him. It would probably be good in case he ran into a bear or something, anyway. I counted the seconds in my head the left the tent. The air was cool and damp, the grass and dirt soft under my feet. I followed the direction I heard Max walk. His trail soon lead me into the woods, which was a bit strange considering that he was alone. I shrugged it of until I heard whimpering, which turned into some kind of snarling noise. I followed the noise to a clearing. Standing about 8 yards away was a giant wolf. Slightly taller than me. (wee woo plot twist)

It hadn't noticed me yet, so I hopped up into a tree lining the meadow. The wolf paced back and forth, shaking it's head. It's shiny, black fur flowing in the breeze. Then I noticed an all too familiar feeling that I still had yet to figure out. Max? I shook my head at the thought. It was impossible. This wolf could be a danger to the humans at camp. I concluded, And Max can't be too far. Might as well deal with it. I jumped to the ground 4 yards away from the beast, which jumped back in surprise. At first there was confusion, then more anger, then more confusion, then very confused anger. The wolf crouched into a hostile defensive position, readying for a fight. The smell was stronger now, it really did stink. I scrunched my nose at the unwelcome oder. It inched forward; head down, ears back, growling.

Along with the danger that could see and feel emitting off the creature, I wasn't afraid. I wasn't making any movements to counter it's hostility. It was creeped closer still. I remained frozen, not in fear, but an offering. There was a silent understanding between us as it approached, nostrils flaring. Now it was directly in front of me, if I leaned forward 2 inches, my forehead would touch it's nose. I closed my eyes. It sniffed my face and neck as I remained perfectly still, now positive I knew the creature before me. The aura was all too normal now. It's head lowered, it had one ear pressed to my chest. It blew out of its nose and backed away a few steps, shaking it's head once again. "I can see you're confused," I started, "I know what, who you are." The beast just stared at me, green eyes blazing, sparkling. "Max, please let me speak with you."

I'm planning for this 2 be a 3 part series, eventually. Hope it wasn't too weird (just the perfect amount) see ya peeps.
