I got this idea from @mangomandy024 Valentine's day special and im kinda technically copying them so just wanted to say that. I guess happy late Valentine's day special bois.

No P.O.V.

Neil was laying on his bed, trying to forget the wretched day that is tomarrow. He decided to buy himself two tubs of chocolate ice cream to drown himself in the next day. He went to his car and mentally prepared himself for the blinding pinks and reds that would be all but literally shoved down his throat. He stopped at the Piggly Wiggly that he could've easily walked to, but it was already late and too dark for him to care.

Neil grabbed to first two tubs he saw, not caring at this point what kind they were, he didn't even know. He stood in line trying to avoid looking directly at the eye-melting decorations that were littered everywhere. Made him kind of sick if he was honest. He took the bag of ice cream into his apartment when he got back, finally hesitating to read the lables.

One chocolate marshmallow swirl and one cookies n' cream. Good enough. As he was about to put on some Gabriel Iglesias (Fluffy!!!) special on Netflix to distract himself, his phone buzzed. (it is very similar to their chapter im so sry but it just so perfect) Neil got his phone out to see that Nikki had texted him.

NikNak: hey neil what's up?

Nerdybean (fite me): Hi Nikki. Nothing much. What about you?

NikNak: got any plans for tomarrow? erid and i are gonna go see love simon at the drive in theatre at 6, do you wanna go on a double date?

NikNak: wait. are you even dating anyone?

Nerdybean: Of course I have a boyfriend! We'll be there!

Neil realized too late that his phone had auto-corrected it to say 'boyfriend'. He cringed at his stupidity.

NikNak: oh! great! see you guys then!

That was a disaster. Neil wasn't dating anyone, he hadn't for a few years. The only form of human contact he got on that hell foresaken day was Max texting him a 'happy loneliness day' every year. A running gag that had started 6 years ago. He scoured his contacts for someone believable.

Neil's P.O.V.

Nerris? No, she was a girl.

Dolf? No.

Harrison? Definitely not.

Preston? I think he's already in a relationship.

The person I logically felt the most comfortable asking was Max. God he was never gonna let me live it down. I took a deep breath before hitting the call button and putting the phone to my ear.

"Hello?" I heard from the other end. Oh god. Why do I do these things to myself!? "Hellllllo? Neil? Anyone there?" I took a second to calm my shaking hands before answering. "H-hey, Max." "Hey Nerd. What's up?" "Look...I, uh....," I stumbled for the right words. "Neil, are you ok?" Concern filled his tone. "I need a favor," I managed to whisper.

"Ok...." Max waited for me to continue. "NikkiaskedmetogoonadoubledateandI'mnotdatinganyoneandItoldherIhaveaboyfriendsowillyoupretendtodatemeforalittlewhile?" It all came out in one breath. My ears were hot. Max was silent for a few moments. "How the hell did you get yourself into that predicament?" I let out a relived sigh that he wasn't angry with me.
