Chapter 22: The Fire Fight

"Alright Ricky, it is just us two here alone. Tell me the truth now.. What happened to your morpher?!" EJ said.

"Wha-what do you mean?" Ricky said, hiding his left arm behind his back.

"Ricky, don't lie to me. I know when you are lying."

Ricky looked to the ground, "I- uh, just please don't be mad at me."

"Okay, just tell me what happened."

"Lord Zedd has it."

"What do you mean he has it? Ricky, what did you do?"

"I sort of gave it to him.."

"YOU WHAT?!"

"You said you wouldn't be mad!"

EJ just pinched the bridge between his nose and eyes, trying to take deep breaths to calm himself down. "Why did you give it to him?"

"Okay sit down for this, it's a long story." Ricky said to EJ.

Ricky explained how Lord Zedd told him to meet him at the docks at midnight to get EJ's morpher back, but in return he gets Ricky's morpher. He then explained how he had a plan to save both morphers, but then that backfired. Now Lord Zedd has Ricky's morpher, but he was able to get EJ's morpher back and save his boyfriend's life.

"RICKY! I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU DID THAT!"

"EJ, DON'T YELL AT ME! I DID IT FOR YOU!"

"And I thank you for that, but you should have told someone. We could have come up with a plan to save both morphers, instead of you going out on your own. You could have gotten really hurt!"

"But I didn't! And in return I saved you! The person I care about the most. I thought you were dying, I couldn't live my life without you!" Ricky said with tears forming in his eyes.

"And I can't live without you. But what if Lord Zedd captured you again? Did you think about that?"

"Na-no..."

"Exactly Ricky! You always think with your heart, which is what I love about you, but you need to start thinking with your brain too. Your heart was in the right place, but your head wasn't!"

"GOD EJ! WHY ARE YOU GETTING MAD AT ME? I LITERALLY SAVED YOU!"

"BUT IN THE PROCESS YOU HURT YOURSELF!"

"What do you mean?"

"You gave up your morpher for me. Now you can't be a Power Ranger and help us and the city. Is this why you asked me what it would be like to give up being a ranger? Is this your way of not wanting to be a ranger anymore?"

"NO! It's not like that! I was just trying to be a good boyfriend and save you. This has nothing to do with not being a ranger anymore, I LOVE BEING A POWER RANGER!"

EJ got up from the bed he was resting on and started to walk around the healing room in the command center.

"Then why didn't you ask for help? We are a part of a team! These are our best friends, they could have helped you!"

"I know! I just didn't want to put them through it! It was my fault you got hurt, it was my fault Lord Zedd took your morpher, and it had to be ME to fix everything. I HAD TO FIX EVERYTHING!" Now Ricky was starting to cry, full on cry. EJ felt his heart break, he knew he pushed Ricky too far.

"Oh Ricky, come here." EJ said, embracing his boyfriend in a tight hug.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. This is all my fault."
