deena took a deep breath while she made sure she had everything. her passport, her belongings, everything.

kurt sighed as he looked at deena. "i'm gonna miss you, you know that?"

deena smiled, nodding her head. "i know, i know. but it's only one year. it will go by fast before you know it."

"make sure to always give me a call whenever you can. if there's an emergency i'll try my best to answer as quick as possible." kurt said.

deena heard the last call for her flight. "i gotta go now." she said, giving kurt one last smile before walking towards the check-in.

the plane ride had some turbulence due to the snow which caused deena to have a throbbing headache for about an hour but gladly she was able to have a good amount of sleep when the turbulence ended. good thing it was a 4 hour flight so it wasn't that long of a flight.

-

deena woke up once she felt the plane stop moving and the pilot start speaking loudly in the speakers.

deena looked out the window and smiled as she realized that they've finally landed. her head was still aching a bit but she thought it'd wear off later on.

as deena took out her insanely huge luggage, she heard the notification sound come out from her phone.

deena looked at the notification and she smiled when she saw who it was.

a little backstory. cindy and deena have been friends for a really long time but sadly cindy had to move away because of family problems. now after 4 years, deena was now able to see her best friend again.

-

cindy and deena gave each other a long and warming hug once they both met again after such a long time.

"holy shit! i can't believe this is happening." cindy said with excitement.

"same! it feels like a dream! this place already feels different." deena said, looking around the area.

"it's okay, you'll be just fine." cindy said. "school starts tomorrow so you're going to need a lot of rest."

"oh come on. i can't have a look around in this beautiful place?" deena whined.

"you can when school ends. it's a friday tomorrow anyways and i'm free so we're gonna have lots of time." cindy said. "now. let's get you home and do some packing, eh?"

"eh?" deena said as she chuckled.

"isn't that what canadians say?" cindy asked. "did i just offend millions of people?"

"no, you're fine." deena said, playfully rolling her eyes and getting in cindy's car.

-

deena packed just about all of her stuff in the apartment and honestly this wasn't too bad. she thought this was gonna go very badly but she could really get used to this.

she didn't interact with anyone but cindy but that's for her to find out tomorrow. cindy told deena about some friends she had at school.

deena wondered what they were like. she hoped that they weren't gonna think she's some weird girl. being the new kid is always a nightmare.
