sam started panicking and her breath quickened once she realized that deena had left her on read. she was nervous since she thought deena didn't feel like going.

"sam, calm down. she's probably just typing." kate said, trying to calm sam down.

"she texted me." deena said, showing her phone to cindy and the others. "what do i say?"

"whatever you think is best. do you want to go?" cindy asked.

deena didn't feel like being rude or ignorant towards sam so she felt like she just had to say yes.

sam looked at the message with a bright smile. she just hoped she wouldn't mess things up again. she didn't want to upset deena like last time.

sam pulled her car over and turned on the headlights of her car to get deena's attention.

deena made her way into sam's car and gave her a smile. "hi, sam."

"hel- hi deena." sam had remembered to stop saying hello. kate gave sam some advice on how to stop being awkward around people and actually start a conversation without fucking up.

sam had a lot of things planned out and she thought that the best place to talk to deena was the beach. but deena doesn't know where they're going.

"so sam. where are we going?" deena asked, breaking  the silence.

"you'll see." sam answered, looking at deena and quickly back on the road.

sam pulled over to the side once they arrived to their destination. she got out of her car and went to the back to pop the trunk.

deena in suspicion went outside to sam and chuckled. "wow, it seems like you know what you're doing."

sam picked up the mats and laughed. "you don't know how difficult it was for me to sneak this outside to my car."

they both walked over to the beach which seemed emptier than usual. it was a bit windy outside so it was most likely for that reason.

sam prepared the stuff and sat down on the mat. so far nothing weird has happened.

deena sat down next to sam and looked at the ocean. "it's a bit chilly outside, eh?"

"yeah. i thought it would be more sunny but you know. nature is just weird." sam said with a chuckle. "the presentation is tomorrow."

"yeah! what about it?" deena asked, looking at sam.

"just nervous i guess. i never liked talking out loud in front of people. i'm an introvert." sam said, going on her phone to play music. she laid down on the mat and a song started to play.

"holy shit. harry styles?" deena exclaimed, laying down as well.

"hell yeah." sam said, looking at deena.

"can i ask you something?" deena asked.

"sure. what is that?"

"when you like someone how do you tell them that you do? because when people say it, it just looks easy. but when you do it. it's physically impossible."

sam's heart dropped once deena said those words. "well." she stammered. "i guess you just have to do it. i don't think there is an easy way. you have no choice."

deena sighed and put her hand on top of sam's.

"you're a good person you know that?"

sam looked at both of their hands and and then back at deena.

deena started leaning in and breaking the gap as she kissed sam.
