"hey, deena!" sam exclaimed, catching up to deena from the halls. "how are you doing?"

"i'm great, sam. thanks for asking." deena answered with a smile.

"what are your options?"

"band."

"cool, cool. i have cheer."

"cheer? really?" deena asked with a laugh.

"hey, don't judge."

"do you wanna maybe.. hang out later?" deena asked.

sam widened her eyes as she heard deena say that. "but you have a boyfriend?"

deena let out a loud laugh and shook her head. "you do know it's not a date, right? we're going out in a friend way."

sam's heart started beating faster and nodded her head. she never went out with someone. sure she had friends but they were a group. this was different. sam was completely on her own.

"right, right."

"yeah! so, meet me at 7:00?"

"totally! i'll see you later?"

deena nodded before going to her class.

-

"holy fucking fuck." sam panicked as she looked through her closet. "is there anything in here that doesn't look fucking whack?"

she looked at her phone to reveal that she only had about 20 minutes left. "i hate my life so much." she muttered as she didn't care anymore about what outfit she wanted to wear. not being able to pick someone up on time seemed more embarrassing.

sam grabbed her car keys and rushed downstairs, bumping into the stairs railing whilst going down at the process. she felt an electric shock come from her elbow but she didn't care about that right now.

sam ran out and went to her car, driving fast to deena's house. but it's not exactly a house OR her house but it works.

-

sam beeped the car, getting deena's attention and gave her a tiny wave.

deena smiled and sat in sam's car. "hey, sam." she said. deena couldn't do anything but notice how sweaty the blonde girl was. she assumed that she had worked her ass off to arrive early on time.

"seems like i'm not the only person to be late for things." deena teased.

"at least i actually wasn't late." sam said, playfully rolling her eyes. "how do you even know i was rushing?"

"your energy was just showing it wide open. and you know, i'm technically the master when it comes to being late. out of all people you should know that."

"sure, deena." sam said in a bored tone and started driving.

-

sam and deena were at a small lake where most of the shooting stars took place. they happen to show up most of the time and sam had always went to the same exact place ever since she was little.

"you know, the first time i ever saw you i just knew that you were a bitchy cheerleader." deena confessed.

sam looked at deena and loudly scoffed as if she was offended. "at least i don't do band."

"what's wrong with band? all you do is slam two sticks onto an object."

"alright, there were other ways you could've worded that and that's how you did it?"

"sorry." deena laughed, raising her hands up. "how can you even keep up with cheer? do you even like it?"

sam awkwardly laughed, shaking her head. "no, i don't exactly like it. my mother said that it would help me get into a good school but i call bullshit on it."
