once deena got back to cindy's apartment, the energy was weird. it's like cindy wanted to say something but she just wasn't saying anything.

deena sighed and gave cindy the glare. "okay, what is wrong?"

"how was your date with sam?" cindy asked, continuing to look at the tv.

"it wasn't really a date." deena replied, sitting down on the couch.

"but you wanted it to be, right?"

"no. i'm not you know-"

"a lesbian?"

"yeah." deena muttered as she looked down at her lap.

"alright just. you can tell me anything, okay?" cindy started with a smile as she went to her room.

deena frowned as she slightly nodded her head. the way cindy reacted freaked her out.

deena shook her head and turned her phone off. don't think she will be going on her phone for awhile unless it's really urgent.

"you two broke up?" nick asked as he poked his straw into his juice box while tommy looked at him in disbelief.

"it had to be done." deena said with a shrug.

"he looked kinda musty anyways." tommy muttered under his breath with a laugh.

cindy glared at tommy and gave him a signal to knock it off.

"it's fine, cindy. tommy isn't wrong. he was kinda weird."

the group laughed at deena's comment.

simon and kate both stared at sam in a really concerned way.

sam was looking back at deena the whole entire time and the two knew exactly what was going on.

"sam, we know your secret." simon blurted out, making sam snap out of her thoughts.

"what secret?"

simon and kate looked at each other and started laughing loudly for the whole entire cafeteria to hear.

"come on, let's be real here, samantha. you like deena." kate tried to whisper as if her voice wasn't already loud.

sam rolled her eyes and crossed her arms as she looked at the two making fun of her. "i don't like deena, alright? she's just different. she's like the only person i actually enjoy hanging out with."

"wow, offense taken." simon said, putting his hand to his chest like he was offended. "but the real question is. does she like you?"

"she's probably straight. i wouldn't want to assume her sexuality."

"assuming she's straight isn't any better than thinking she isn't gay. come on, just tell her how you feel." kate said with a whine. "i know it you both will end up together."

"also did you hear?" simon continued.

"hear what?"

"i heard that deena and her boyfriend broke up. she didn't tell you?"

"no? wait what happened?" sam asked with a bit of worry which she regretted seconds after.

"boyfriend was being a dick. that's all i know." simon shrugged. "she's single and now you're single meaning.."

"i'm not telling her anything."

"hell yeah you fucking are."

"at least talk to her about the breakup. i'm sure she's gonna need some company to cope with her sadness." kate told sam. "deena needs you right now."

"yeah. good idea."
