sam went downstairs along with cindy and saw deena sitting on the counter from the kitchen.

"hi deena." sam greeted.

"hi sam." deena greeted back.

cindy looked at them with an awkward smile and packed her things. "i'm going out."

"with who?" deena asked in curiosity.

"myself." cindy rolled her eyes before leaving the apartment. once cindy slammed the door, deena and sam looked at each and both laughed at the same time.

"jesus, what is wrong with her?" sam questioned, sitting on the stool that was beside the counter. "also thanks for letting me stay in your apartment by the way." she mentioned.

"technically this is cindy's apartment but i'm just living in it. i highly doubt it she would've never allowed you to stay here if you dared to ask but you're welcome since it took me quite awhile to convince her."

"she doesn't seem to like me."

"she doesn't." deena said. "why were you so tired last night? hell i had to help you get up the stairs so you wouldn't fall down and break your neck."

"i'm a heavy sleeper, alright? you're gonna have to get used do that." sam stated. "so.. about last night and the incident with you and your ex boyfriend. are you okay?"

deena sighed with a shrug. "i don't know. i guess i'm fine. why?"

"it's just. i don't feel like that was going to be the last time he'll see you. i have a feeling that he's gonna try hurting you this time and i'm afraid that it might happen." sam said, looking down.

deena looked at sam, feeling upset but yet she felt like smiling. "are you saying that you want to protect me?"

"well, yeah." sam answered in a shy way. she's never said that to someone before. she always thought about herself first more than others.

"thanks, sam. i really appreciate that." deena said with a loving smile. never did she ever think that the samantha fraser that was mean to her since the beginning would end up caring for her and protecting her from her ex.

"look, if anything happens or if anyone goes near you in any way. you have to call me." sam said. "it would kill me to see you get hurt."

"what if i don't have to call you? what if i can take care of myself?" deena wondered. sam just sat there, feeling a little offended and hurt at the same time.

"i'm kidding, don't hate me." deena laughed. "i'll call you. i promise."

"good."

"sam, i gotta ask you something."

"and what's that?"

"do you ever think about who you're going to marry? or who you'll stay with forever?"

sam was taken aback and looked at deena. "well, i- i don't really know? i'm guessing no. i've never really thought about that."

deena nodded her head with a smile. "anyways! since it's spring break i was thinking of something." she got off the counter and ran to the couch from the living room. "let's not waste time." she said before turning on the tv.

sam followed deena and sat on the couch but leaving a small gap between them. while deena browsed for a movie, avengers endgame randomly popped up on the screen. deena looked at sam with a grin while sam shook her head.

"no."
