My eyes opened slowly, immediately blinded by the light emitting from the window.
"Oh, baby, you're awake, thank God. Baby are you all right?"
The bad news came back to me, and my heart broke all over again. I didn't know how to react now. All I want is to drown in my own pool of heartbreak. And I would never forgive myself and how I wasn't there for her in her darkest times.
"Do you wanna go visit them?" Demi asked.
"They're miles away," I said sadly.
"With me there is no distance," she smiled at me and placed a quick kiss on my lips.
She got up and picked up her phone, dialled a number and spoke.
"It's settled," she said as she hung up.
"Thank you," I smiled.
"Do you wanna keep your mind off things? Watch a movie or something?"
"No, let's just cuddle."
She sat on the bed. "Okay baby, whatever you want."
I laid by her side, in the warmth of her arms, thinking about how my happiness could vanish within a 2-minute phone call.
She kissed my forehead.
"Get some rest, baby girl."
I closed my eyes.
