"another argument"

"What is the project are you guys are working on?", Taehyun asked curiously as he sipped his strawberry juice, sweeping his eyes across his brother and Soobin.

The restaurant was crowded, but there was still a pleasant atmosphere surrounding the four of them. They sat in one of the private booths in front of the window, with their backs facing the door since they had just arrived. The room was cosy; it was decorated in dark colours, a big contrast with the modern decor of the dining area and the bright light of the moon outside. The four of them were seated across from each other at a small table that could fit all of them comfortably. The chandelier above the table made everyone feel slightly underdressed for the occasion. It wasn't anything extravagant or fancy though, just a casual night out with friends.

"We started this project a couple of months ago", Yeonjun said excitedly as he took another bite of his meal which consisted of beef, pork, and some vegetables, "We are building a new facility on the outskirts of the city"

"Wow... That sounds interesting", Taehyun commented while chewing on some rice.

"It does. It's an eight-storey tall office building", Soobin piped up before taking another bite of his food, "It will be fully equipped with modern technologies, including a gym, a pool, exercise machines, games, etc, but we need to do more than just getting a building together. It will be quite hard to find enough money for this project alone. We need to find a partner as soon as possible"

Taehyun frowned at that and the rest of the boys turned their attention towards him when they noticed his expression, "I thought you already had a partner?"

His question made the air thick around
the table as they all tensed besides the blonde. Soobin and Yeonjun immediately drifted his eyes to Beomgyu who squirmed uncomfortably in his seat as a response, all the horrible memories about Youngsoo rushing back to him. He didn't want to talk about him right now. Not here. Not like this.

Taehyun noticed a sudden change in everyone's behaviour and how two males stole glances from Beomgyu before looking down at their plates. Taehyun wasn't a fool. He figured out that topic had something to do with Beomgyu, however, he decided not to comment on it.

Soobin was the one who finally cleared his throat to blow away the sudden awkwardness, fixing his gaze on the blonde, "Yeah, we had, but we had an argument later and we terminated our partnership agreement"

Taehyun's lips formed an 'o' shape as he processed this information. He didn't want to pry into their business, they're allowed to keep whatever happened between them privately if they chose so. However, Taehyun couldn't help but think about what any of that had to do with Beomgyu. He could still see how stiff the boy was. Yeonjun could notice that also, so he held his husband's hand gently and leaned to him, whispering into his ear, "Are you okay?"

At Yeonjun's question, Beomgyu looked up at him. A blush appeared on his cheeks as he nodded his head and beamed a bit, quickly denying any feelings of pain he was feeling at the moment. Yeonjun smiled at him also and gently pecked his husband's cheek and seeing this scene, Soobin couldn't help, but feel his heart clench and he quickly looked away. He still wasn't used to the idea that Yeonjun would never be his.

"Hyung", Taehyun called him softly as he noticed Soobin's condition, causing the boy's eyes to draw on him as the younger touched his knee below the table and winked at him which made Soobin smile unintentionally. He shook his head. The blonde was such a dork, but Soobin loved those cute gestures Taehyun did whenever they'd spend time together because he always acted so carefree and friendly. He loved it when Taehyun was with him because he felt free and relaxed, even though they both knew their problems were looming over them.
