"a nightmare"

It was chilly weather outside. The sky was covered by dark grey clouds, and there was an overcast that seemed to be looming for weeks. The temperature dropped sharply and soon it started to snow softly.

The only people who were out at the moment were two men in matching green jumpers walking slowly beside each other in the snow, deep in conversation. It was almost as if they weren't aware of the blizzard around them, nor how cold it really was as they enjoyed each other's company.

"So you're considering travelling back to Japan someday?", Hangyeol asked as he gave the blonde a curious look while Taehyun nodded gently, his hands tucked into the pockets of his coat.

"Yeah", he replied, "Life was really peaceful back there"

Taehyun smiled wistfully at the memories as he remembered how peaceful it was before everything went down. He wished he had never returned to Korea, the place that brought him so much disappointment and pain. It had turned into hell to him.

"Don't get me wrong but leaving the country just because you want to escape your pain isn't such a great plan, you know", Hangyeol mumbled as he averted his gaze from the younger boy's eyes to look down at the ground. "I think you should stay here and replace bad memories with good ones"

The young man sighed lightly, looking away and towards the snowy sidewalk ahead. "That's what my psychologist used to tell me", he said after a few moments. "I already tried doing that, and I failed"

Hangyeol nodded quietly. They walked in silence for a little longer until the raven-haired finally spoke up again. "You don't sound too convinced though"

Taehyun shrugged slightly, not meeting his gaze. "It's just...the past is still haunting me"

He didn't have anything else to add. It wasn't like his home was the most welcoming place ever, or that being surrounded by all the people and noise would have made him feel safe. Instead, he felt like he needed a quiet place where no one could see him. A place where the world didn't matter, and the walls were strong enough to keep any unwanted thoughts out of reach. The house that used to be filled with happy people and laughter now just felt empty to him.

After a while, they headed to a bench by the edge of the park. Their hands brushed against each other occasionally, creating tiny sparkles between their fingers every time. Taehyun thought they must look like a couple, but he didn't care. In fact, this whole situation just felt right.

"Hey", Hangyeol exclaimed as he saw Taehyun slip on some wet, snow-covered gravel on the way to the bench, and instantly grabbed his arm, so Taehyun wouldn't fall, "Watch out"

Taehyun giggled slightly at the older man's antics, smiling fondly at him. The adorable sounds made Hangyeol's heart flutter. He hadn't even known he could get butterflies in his stomach. But he found that the more he got to know Taehyun, the more things he liked about him.

   "Thanks"

Hangyeol let go of his arm as they both sat on the bench. "No problem"

Taehyun looked up to the sky once again, admiring the beautiful view of Seoul's skyline, and then back at Hangyeol. This guy made him feel comfortable around him like he didn't have to hide behind a mask anymore. Taehyun liked spending time with him.

"Do you mind if I ask you something?", he suddenly said shyly. His cheeks burned red at how awkward he sounded.

The latter smiled gently as he shook his head and answered "Not at all"

Taehyun cleared his throat and began, his voice shaky and quiet, trying to suppress the lump which had taken root in his throat. He wasn't sure why he was being so hesitant.
