Nikki:
The sharp buzz of my alarm clock jolted me awake. I groaned, rolling out of bed, and rubbing my eyes as I fumbled to grab my suitcase. The hotel room was quiet, almost too quiet, as I gave it one final glance before stepping out the door.

By the time we made it back to the bus, the sun was high, and the clock on my phone read 11:00 a.m. I sighed and plopped into the seat beside my brother, Caleb. His tired face mirrored mine as we leaned back into the cushions.

It didn't take long before the hum of the bus and the steady rhythm of the road lulled us both to sleep.

Jasmine:
As the bus rumbled along the highway, I looked back toward Nikki and Caleb. They were both sound asleep, their heads leaning in opposite directions.

Smiling to myself, I decided not to disturb them. Instead, I pulled out my sketchbook, my haven during these long trips.

The lines on the page began to take shape—a serene landscape of mountains and forests, inspired by the scenery we had passed earlier. As I worked, I reached for my colored pencils, carefully blending shades of green and blue to bring the drawing to life.

Suddenly, the bus slowed down abruptly, pulling me from my artistic trance. I frowned, looking out the window. That's when I noticed something strange. The trees along the road seemed darker as if shadows were weaving unnaturally through the branches.

Raven:
Sitting across the aisle, I noticed Jasmine's worried expression as she peered out the window. "What's wrong?" I asked, leaning over slightly.

She hesitated before replying. "I'm... not sure. The trees look weird. Like they're moving or something."

I glanced outside, and a chill ran down my spine. The shadows weren't just swaying with the wind—they were writhing, almost alive.

"Maybe it's just the sunlight playing tricks," I said, though I didn't believe my own words.

That's when the bus came to a sudden stop.

Nikki:
The jolt of the bus stopping woke me up instantly. Caleb stirred beside me, rubbing his eyes. "What's going on?" he asked groggily.

"I don't know," I said, sitting up and looking out the front of the bus. The driver was standing, peering at something in the distance.

"Stay in your seats!" he called back, but his voice wavered with fear.

I turned to Jasmine and Taylor, who both looked just as confused. "Do you see anything?" I asked.

Jasmine nodded slowly. "The shadows... they're moving."

Jasmine:
Before I could explain further, something massive emerged from the treeline ahead. It was a creature unlike anything I'd ever seen—towering, with long, twisted limbs and glowing yellow eyes. Its body seemed to shift and ripple like smoke, but its claws looked all too real.

The bus driver scrambled back inside, slamming the door shut. "What the hell is that?" he muttered, his hands shaking as he grabbed the radio.

The monster let out a low, guttural growl, and the air around us seemed to vibrate. Everyone on the bus was frozen, too scared to speak.

Nikki:
My heart pounded in my chest as I stared at the massive creature. Caleb grabbed my arm, his grip tight. "Nikki, what is that thing?" he asked, his voice trembling.

I swallowed hard, forcing myself to stay calm. "Caleb," I said in a low voice, "remember those are the Shadow Hunters."

His eyes widened slightly. "The Shadow Hunters? Those people you told me about before?"

I nodded, keeping my gaze fixed on the creature outside. "Yes. They're the ones who deal with things like this."

Just as I finished speaking, I felt it—a familiar presence in my mind, strong and steady.

"Nikki, stay on the bus. Keep your brother and friends safe. We'll handle the creature."

The voice was calm but commanding, and I knew instantly who it was.

Caleb:
I watched as Nikki's expression changed, her jaw tightening as if she was hearing something I couldn't. "They're talking to you, aren't they?" I asked, lowering my voice.

She nodded slowly. "They told us to stay here. We're safe on the bus."

"But what is that thing?" I asked, gesturing to the monster outside.

"It's something they've been tracking. Something dangerous," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "But they'll stop it."

Jasmine:
The bus seemed to grow colder as the creature moved closer, its glowing eyes scanning the area. Suddenly, figures emerged from the shadows, their weapons gleaming in the faint light.

"Who are they?" I whispered to Nikki, but she only shook her head, her eyes glued to the scene outside.

The Shadow Hunters moved with precision, surrounding the creature. One of them raised a hand, and the shadows around the monster seemed to recoil.

The leader of the group turned toward the bus, his glowing blue eyes locking onto Nikki.

"Nikki, you're connected to us for a reason. Trust us. Stay inside."

Nikki:
The connection faded as quickly as it had appeared, leaving me with a sense of calm resolve. "They're here to help," I told Caleb, squeezing his arm gently.

He nodded, though his eyes were still filled with unease. "I hope they know what they're doing."

"They do," I said firmly.

The Shadow Hunters began their attack, their weapons cutting through the creature's smoky form with precision. The battle raged on, and though the monster fought back with terrifying strength, the Hunters never faltered.

When the creature let out one final, deafening roar and dissolved into shadows, I felt a wave of relief wash over me.

"They did it," Caleb whispered, his voice filled with awe.

I nodded, my heart still racing. "They always do."
