👉{Past tense}
From the very beginning, I want you to know that I've been on a journey of self-discovery. As a baby, I arrived at the orphanage with no knowledge of my true parents or where I came from. All I could grasp was the memory of being placed on those steps, a mysterious start to my life's story.

Years passed, and I finally got adopted by my foster parents when I was 6 years old, since then, they welcomed me in as their own. Now I'm 22 years old

These couple of years have been fun with my foster parents, but lately, I've been wondering about my real parents, if they still remember me, or if they are still alive. I have been thinking about setting off and finding them. And no, I don't hate my foster parents; they are amazing people, the best parents to ever have. And I'm happy they did adopt me. But I just want to know my real parents.

And these mysterious episodes keep happening. Ever since my birthday came around, these weird episodes just keep happening and grow stronger each time.

{Presence Tense}
Nikki: when I was 13, I was in middle school. I always wanted to stay myself at lunch. I would sit at the back table by the cafeteria window, which was peaceful. But it wasn't as peaceful when the popular kids sat next to it, the popular girls who bully and look down on other kids, including me, decided to pick at me.

Nikki: And that day I was not really in a great mood, due to me trying to figure out what was wrong with me. They kept on calling me names, which started to annoy me to no end, until the ring leader with blonde hair and thick makeup on her face.

Jessica the bully: "You'll always be nothing, just like you were yesterday, and just like you'll be tomorrow. No wonder your real parents didn't love you; that's why they gave you up for adoption."

Nikki: After she said that, the others started to laugh. I felt myself growing angry and my vision blurry as a surge of energy passed out through my body, and the next thing I knew, a splat noise was heard and silence in the cafeteria fell around.

Nikki: I snapped out of it as I turned around; my eyes widened at the sight of the girl and the others, now covered in their food. As they got up whining about their clothes and hair, she stopped and looked at me angrily and pointed her finger, saying it was my fault and calling me a freak.

Nikki: As she was yelling, all eyes fell on me, some of them whispering, hearing their thoughts in their mind, saying things. The air in the room starts to grow thick and suffocating. I got up and started running out of the cafeteria and down the hallways as the tears fell down my face.

Nikki: I went into the restroom and called my mom to explain what happened. She told me to stay put, but I never told my parents that I could do this. Today is the day I tell them about my superpowers.

Nikki: I walked downstairs to the kitchen where they were. My mom cooks while my father sits and reads his newspaper, taking sips of his coffee.

Nikki: "Mom, Dad, can I talk to you guys for a minute? It's not going to take long."

Mom: "Sure, honey, anything for you."

Nikki: I and Mom sit down at the kitchen table, eating. I clear my throat and speak.

Nikki: "So this is a huge secret for you both that I have been keeping away from you two until now." They were chewing slowly on their food and looking at each other, kind of worried about what you were going to say.

Dad: "What is it, honey? Are you going to tell us that you're going to school for nursing or to be a veterinarian because we all know you love helping people and animals?"

Nikki: I shook my head and said, "No, that's not exactly what I was going to tell you. I have -" She paused for a minute, nervous about what she was going to tell them; your mom places her hand on yours to help calm your nerves.

Mom: "What is it, sweetie? You can tell us, and we promise to support you no matter what." You looked at them and nodded your head, letting the air out of your nose.

Nikki: "I have superpowers." They paused and looked at each other and burst out laughing.

Dad: "That's a funny joke, sweetheart. Ain't she funny, honey?" He said turning to his wife; she was still laughing and nodded.

Mom: "She is. and cute, that's why she is our daughter. But honey, there's no such thing as superpowers."

Nikki: "I'm able to hear what people think and move objects, and I also have other powers. Like now I'm able to hear what you both are thinking. And Mom, you're thinking about why I didn't go to school for nursing? Dad, you're thinking about why I didn't go to school for a veterinarian,

Nikki: Well because I never actually knew what I wanted to do. So when I was about 10, I would always hear you two argue about what was going to happen when I got older. Why do I stay locked up in my room and stay to myself? Well, because I would always break things in the house, and I didn't want you two to know it, nor did I want to get in trouble.

Nikki: I can show you what I mean about moving objects." She said and focused and moved the plant with her mind from the table as it fell to the ground and broke.

Nikki: Nikki, Mom, and Dad looked shocked for a minute then they spoke.

Mom: "Wow, sweetheart, we didn't know; this is a lot to take in." They said glancing at each other and then looking at Nikki."
