"Why? Why did I do it? I could have avoided this! Why, dammit?!" sobbed the broken boy from where he was crumpled behind the military base. "You're useless! Why would anyone trust you, you damn idiot!" He tried to stay as silent he could but when Zeke found him, he knew he was done for.

When Zeke had found him, his heart immediately broke and he knew that the people who he had asked to follow him had broken hearts as well from hearing his sobs and hearing how he was calling himself 'useless' over and over again. Sitting down next to the sobbing mess that was his brother, he just held him and let him cry himself dry.

"So," the older Jaeger brother said after calming the younger Jaeger brother down from his sob session. "Care to tell me what happened?" Eren shook his head, knees pulled to his chest as he fought back yet another breakdown. "C'mon Eren, I need you to work with me here, bud. Please?" Zeke still got no response from the fragile being that was Eren. It went like this for about twenty more minutes before Eren spoke.

"I hurt them," he whispered, voice hoarse from all the sobbing he had been doing yet Zeke was still able to hear it, just. Was this about the confrontation between Eren, Mikasa and Armin? Was it just about them? Or was it about everyone who they had hurt in the past? "I hurt Mikasa, I hurt Armin, Jean, Connie, Levi, Hange, Sasha, Falco, Reiner, Nicolo... Everyone."

"Eren, I'm sure they'll forgive you," Zeke assured, rubbing circles on Eren's back. "I get you don't like to hurt them, but you have to understand, Eren, it's the best way for our plan to work."

"What if..." Eren sighed, looking away. "What if I don't want to go through with our plan?" Saddened, empty Caribbean blue eyes looked into lively ocean blue. "I understand you want the Eldian Empire to survive and all that, but is it really worth all this death and betrayal?"

Zeke glanced to where the four were hiding from Eren's view, eyes wide with agape mouths. "I guess you're right," he muttered. "How's about we call it off, hm?"

"I punched him," whispered Eren, empty eyes looking in front of him though Zeke was sure he was looking elsewhere.

"Who?"

"Armin. I punched him, like Captain Levi did to me when we first met during the trial." Zeke watched as Levi's eyes became downcast upon hearing Eren confirm his suspicions. "I don't know why, maybe so they hated me enough to stay away from me. After all, who would want to stay near a monster like me?"

Suddenly, four pairs of footsteps could be heard. Eren's eyes widened upon feeling four sets of arms wrapping around him, holding him. This sent him over the edge, breaking down once again. After his breakdown, three of the four arms pulled away and the fourth pair made him look up to see a pair of silver eyes looking at him, a soft smile on his face. "You're not a monster, brat," the silver eyes whispered, pulling him in closer. "And you'll never be a monster, got it?" Eren could only nod his head as everything came crashing down around him.
