Caribbean blue eyes slowly opened only to be greeted by a dark abyss surrounding the owner of those eyes who seemed to know what this place was almost instantly. Who's going to appear this time? The owner of the eyes thought sarcastically as he glanced around, looking for any sign of movement in the shadows that he was surrounded by.

"Weak!" shouted the shadows. No, it wasn't the shadows, it was the people hidden within them.

"Monster!" another shouted. He wasn't a monster! His lover of five years reminded him of that every single day. He wasn't a monster!

"You shouldn't have happened," the voice paused, as if weighing up its options for its next choice of words. "brat." Everything slowed to a halt.

That name, that voice. That was his lover of five years. Did his lover really think that he shouldn't have happened? No. No, this is the shadows. Levi doesn't believe you shouldn't have happened... Right?

"Why do you keep trying?" Armin. His childhood best friend. Was he saying to give up? But why? He always told him to reach for his dreams, to achieve them! Why was he now saying to give up?

"I hate you! You're the reason I'm dead!" Mom. Was he the reason for his mother's death? Was he the reason for the attack on Shiganshina those nine years ago? He couldn't have been, right?

"Eren"

He wasn't the reason for his mother's death. Armin wasn't trying to get him to give up. Levi didn't believe he shouldn't have happened. He wasn't a monster. He wasn't weak.

"Eren."

He wasn't the reason for his mother's death. Armin wasn't trying to get him to give up. Levi didn't believe he shouldn't have happened. He wasn't a monster. He wasn't weak... right?

"Eren!"

He wasn't the reason for his mother's death. Armin wasn't trying to get him to give up. Levi didn't believe he shouldn't have happened. He wasn't a monster. He wasn't weak... was he?

"Eren!"

He was the reason for his mother's death. Armin was trying to get him to give up. Levi does believe that he shouldn't have happened. He was a monster. He was weak... wasn't he?

"Eren!"

He was the reason for his mother's death. Armin was trying to get him to give up. Levi does believe that he shouldn't have happened. He was a monster. He was weak. He was.

"Eren!"

Eren gasped, eyes shooting open as he stared wide eye at the ceiling above him. "Eren, are you alright?" Levi asked, moving some of the twenty-two-year-old's hair out of his face. For a second, Eren froze before realizing it was a dream. He's safe. It was just a dream. Nodding, Eren dragged a hand down his face. Hearing his lover heave a sigh, he glanced over to him.

"C'mere," his arms were open and Eren snuggled into the comforting arms, immediately melting into Levi's embrace, and burying his face into the man's neck, trying to forget the words he had been told. It was all a dream, and he was fine. "Wanna talk about it?" Upon the shake of Eren's head as well as the trembling of his body, the man nodded and just held him as the traumatised man slowly fell asleep in his arms. Eventually the duo drifted to sleep, greeted by dreamless slumber for the rest of the night and the two revelled in it.
