"What the fuck...?" Reiner whispered, looking at the chuckling siblings as if they had grown a second pair of heads. "You two are crazy!" Eren and Zeke merely shared a glance before shrugging, Eren continuing his wood carving whilst Zeke watched the clouds roll by.

"I do have a question, though, Eren, Zeke," Gabi spoke up after a little while of silence. Ever since the whole festival thing on Marley, Eren refused to talk to Gabi and Falco since he had hurt them so badly. He manipulated Falco and killed two of the duo's close friends. Noticing his brother's silence, Zeke gestured Gabi to continue. "Why do you hate your dad so much? I mean, he couldn't have done anything that bad, right?"

The rest of their group were surprised when both boys tensed up, sombre looks replacing the relaxed ones that were present prior to Gabi's question. "Our father wasn't a nice man, Gabs," Zeke said simply, looking away and glaring at seemingly nothing. "He wanted to free the people of Eldia, like Eren and I, but he was much more... intense with the idea. That's the only reason I joined the Warrior scheme, to make our father proud. He forced me into it, deciding that I would be the perfect little pawn of his to use in his plan to free Eldia because of my royal blood. But I was advised by a close friend of mine, the prior holder of the Beast titan, that it would be best to sell them out or else my grandparents as well as myself would be killed. I sold my parents out and they were taken away. I now know my mother was turned into a titan – the Smiling titan – and Eren and I's father was given the Attack titan to accomplish two goals: retake the Founding and free Eldia."

"That's where my story starts," Eren continued when Zeke finished. Mikasa and Armin were confused, as were everyone else. The whole time Eren refused to look at any of them, choosing to distract himself with his wood carving. "When our father made it to Wall Maria he as welcomed in by Keith Shadis. He met my mother that day as well, the two growing close quite quickly. A year or so after they got married in the spring, I was born. Unbeknownst to me, father wasn't the best man to have as a father to the point where I would look for anyone else to become a father figure for me, much like Zeke did with Tom Ksaver. Father killed your older sister, Historia and I'm sorry for that. But he had sort of successfully retaken the Founding titan. When I turned ten, Shiganshina was stormed, and titans infiltrated the walls. I watched my mother be eaten in front of me by the Smiling titan but could do nothing to help her. Armin, Mikasa, and I arrived at the Trost district where my father and Shadis soon found me. I told him what happened to mother, and he took me into the forest that surrounded Trost district. Once in there, he pulled out the titan serum and gave it to me, demanding I avenge my mother. I ate him and gained both the Attack and Founding titan. Unbeknownst to me, I had been forced to take on his two missions as well as a third: retake the founding, free the people of Eldia, and avenge my mother. I succeeded in all but one of those missions."

"In short," Zeke sighed, giving his little brother's shaking hand a gentle squeeze, "Eren and I were merely born to be pawns in our father's plans, nothing more, nothing less. We... neither of us were cared about by that foul man and we refuse to consider him our father. He's a stranger to us both which... sucks, I will admit."

"So..." Falco mumbled. "You were turned into a titan against your will? When you were ten?" Eren merely nodded, not wanting to relive the memories of his father's words nor the memory of his mother's death. Hange was quick to notice Eren's sad look, getting up, and giving the nineteen-year-old a gentle hug as he bit back the tears. Zeke noticed also, pulling him into his arms.

"I know you hate reliving that, bud," Zeke murmured softly, resting his head on top of his brother's as the man curled into him, "I'm sorry." Eren just sat there in silence, lost in his memories. Some were happy, some were sad, but aren't all memories like that? We all have good and bad memories; we just try not to dwell on the bad ones. Over time the good out way the bad, and we forget about them. Hopefully, Eren's lucky enough for that to happen as well.
