It was a strange morning. A lot of people had been popping up all over the place as of recently, people who had either been missing for years, presumed to be dead, or were confirmed to be dead. To be honest, it frightened the Jaeger brothers a lot considering it meant that 1 – their father could be revived, 2 – their mothers could be revived, and 3 – all of those that they had killed in the past and/or had a vendetta against them could be revived. "You nervous?" Zeke asked as they watched everyone interact with those they had lost. Eren shrugged. He was nervous to see his father considering he had always wanted him to be proud of what he had achieved, yet he was even more nervous to see his mother again after the man he had become.
"A little," the man replied as the two stayed on the side lines, knowing damn well very little people would want to see them when suddenly it all went quiet. Glancing at each other, the brothers gulped and looked in front of them, nerves increasing tenfold when they saw their mothers standing by the door.
"Eren Rivaille Jaeger!" Carla shouted, Eren nervously smiling at his mother who stormed up to him as Dina did the same to Zeke. "What on earth caused you to do what you did, young men?" Zeke and Eren nervously glanced at each other, wondering if it was best for them to expose their father so early. They didn't get the chance, however, since their father decided then would be the best time to make an appearance.
"Carla? Dina?" He asked, surprised. The two turned on him, noticing he looked slightly younger than when they had last saw him. "Wha... Eren? Zeke?" The boys didn't dare look at their father, both disgusted with him. "Boys?"
"We have a question for you, 'father'," Zeke sneered, turning his fierce glare on him. "What were we to you?" Grisha was taken aback by the question from his oldest son. "What were we to you? Were we your beloved children you would hold close at night? Or were we just a means to an end?"
"A means to an end?" Dina asked, brow scrunched together. "Grisha, what is he on about?" Grisha shrugged.
"You know damn well what Zeke's on about, Grisha." Eren glared, Carla looking shocked that Eren would call his own father by his first name. "Why don't you tell everyone, hm? Tell everyone the truth? If you dare try and lie, don't forget I have access to all of your memories."
"I... I don't know what you're on about, Eren," Grisha dismissed. Eren huffed, rolling his eyes, and leaning back against the wall as Zeke crossed his arms, fixing their father with a glare fiercer than the one before.
"Don't. Lie." He growled. Grisha gulped, knowing there was no way of him getting out of the mess he had created by his own hands.
"I... I consider you both my little boys," Grisha said before sighing. "Well, I do now." Carla and Dina turned at that, looking confused as hell. What was going on between their husband and their boys? "Admittedly, when you two were first born, I immediately thought of how you would help with my plans. I don't see you two like that now."
"Because we completed those missions you gave us," Eren explained. Grisha opened his mouth to refute it before closing it, knowing his youngest boy was right. "This is why I don't consider you my father. You never truly saw Zeke or I as your 'little boys', as your 'sons'. All you saw us for was our potential of helping your plan, helping the mission assigned to you. It was never meant to be assigned to us; it was assigned to you for a reason. I didn't want to be a titan shifter! I didn't want the responsibility of avenging my own mother, of freeing the people of Eldia, of retaking the founding titan! Your forced it on me at age ten. Did you know I would only live to 23? Everyone else got to live much longer than 23. They lived past 23. I won't be able to because I was ten. Ten, and I was forced to take both the attack and founding titan. I will never forgive you, and I hope you realise I have three years left to live because you didn't want to take on the responsibility and were too lost in your own grief you couldn't see what the fuck you were doing to your own fucking son!" With that, Eren stormed out of the room, barging past the man he considered his father.
"Zeke...?" Grisha mumbled.
"I'm not gonna pretend what you did to Eren and I was okay, because it wasn't." Zeke said calmly, though it was clear he was struggling to stay calm. "You manipulated us both, gave us missions assigned to you. We were just born to be tools and don't bother denying it. Eren can see your memories. He saw you call us both 'tools to complete my mission'." With that, Zeke stormed out also to find his brother. Carla and Dina turned to look at where their boys had left before looking back at the man they had fallen so deeply for.
"Carla? Dina?" he asked, hoping to see some love in their eyes but only saw anger. The two nodded to each other before slapping the man and racing after their boys to try and comfort them as much as they could. They knew they wouldn't be able to comfort much but if they could help even a little bit, they'd be happy. Meanwhile, Grisha was on his knees, holding his cheeks that stung from where his ex-wives had slapped him. He, admittedly, deserved it, but that didn't mean it hurt any less. His thoughts were interrupted by a kick to his abdomen. Grisha gasped, looking up and seeing a ravenette with liquid silver eyes with his old friend, Keith Shadis, beside him.
"You're the reason Eren became the way he did," the ravenette growled before kicking him again and leaving to where a group was, glaring at him. Keith just shook his head at him, not allowing him to get up.
"You're not the man I once knew," he muttered before delivering another kick to Grisha and heading over to where a tall blonde stood, rage rolling off him in waves. Grisha knew, immediately, that he had fucked up but there was no way he could make amends with any of them. He had hurt them too much, especially his two boys.
