An upbringing of trauma, a whole new country to start a whole new life in, and one person changing everything. Nineteen year old Lily finds herself in a dangerous situation, but that's the price you pay for love.
As I gazed into those chocolate honeycomb eyes, I wished I could tell her what I was thinking. What I was feeling. But of course I couldn't, not now.
Dam square was heaving with groups of people, sparkling lights and beautiful Christmas music. The aroma of cinnamon and candy floss floated around the bitter winter air, snow drops falling heavily. "Where shall we go first then?" I asked her, turning my sight to Lily, who was admiring the surroundings, the flashing lights brightening up her ecstatic face. "Hmm - the big wheel!" She called like an excitable child, grabbing my hand and pulling me in the direction of the huge spinning wheel of carts. I laughed, following her along.
The mood was beginning to dim with the lighting at the fair, as the night drew later and colder, people began to leave. If it was up to me , I'd never have left. Holding her hand tightly as we skated through the snow, the chaos felt peaceful. "Marty slow down, I'm going to fall," she giggled, dragging behind as I showed off my ability to stand up straight on ice skates. Oh trust me, Lily, I already have.
