An upbringing of trauma, a whole new country to start a whole new life in, and one person changing everything. Nineteen year old Lily finds herself in a dangerous situation, but that's the price you pay for love.
Machines beeped peacefully as the doctors and nurses whispered through clip boards from doorways. "I want to go home," lily sighed, pouting at her beloved boyfriend. "I know you do, but they need to make sure you're ok," he stroked her head as he held her against his chest, the two of them lying on the stiff hospital bed. "Lily Mountford?" A nurse called as she walked into the room. "How are you feeling?" "I'm fine, honestly, I just want to go home," she shrugged, Martin sniggering at her. "We know you want to go home princess, but you still need to be honest, for your own good. Now really, how are you feeling?" Martin intervened, knowing he probably held the only chance to get the girl to speak her true feelings. With a roll of her eyes and a playful glare at him, she rethought. "Fine. I guess I still feel abit shaky, and my head hurts from where I hit the floor after he punched me in the temple. The bruise hurts too. And my stomach is throbbing from where he kicked me, it's making me feel sick," Lily sighed, her arms cupping around her petite stomach. Martin lowered his lips to her ear, and thanked her for telling the truth, before placing a soft kiss on the side of her face. The nurse nodded, flicking through paperwork. "I can see there is some internal bruising in your abdomen from your scan. Perhaps we can get you some stronger pain killers and some heat patches to help with that. I'll also bring some anti-sickness medication. As for your head, I think to be safer, we need to do a further brain scan. I suspect everything will be clear, but I can't let you go until I know you're not at risk of bleeding of the brain." The polite Dutch nurse shook her head, scratching her wrinkled forehead with her fingers. "I think that's best, thank you," Martin nodded, gripping tighter to his girlfriend to ensure she felt safe and comfortable. He knew she'd be anxious to stay longer in the building of illness and chemical smells, the lights lingering bright white as the darkness remained outside. "I'll go and get the doctor, then we can take you down for your scan," the nurse exited the room, leaving the young couple alone. Lily sighed, looking down at her hospital gown and laughing at herself. "What?" Martin sniggered alongside her. "Look at me, I look like a tent," Lily giggled, grabbing her stomach for the pain as she made amusement of herself. Martin laughed alongside her, shaking his head in humour. "Maybe the worlds most beautiful tent," he continued to laugh, feeling the girl rest her delicate head on his strong shoulder.
