Marina POV

Smaug was coming. We somehow made it to a boat and Tauriel was rowing us to safety. I noticed the boat that Bard's son had hidden the black arrow in and I leapt out of the boat. "Marina!" Kili yelled. I didn't turn around I just kept running for the boat. When I made it to it I rummaged around and found the arrow. I held it in my hands and slowly turned around. Smaug looked at me. "What are you going to do half breed?" He snarled. I ran towards him and leapt onto him and he took off into the air. He roared when he realized that I was on him. He started spinning, trying to shake me off. I held on tight and kept climbing till I came to the missing scale in his side. "This is for Thorin!!" I yelled and I jammed the arrow into the soft spot, straight into his heart. Smaug roared and tried to fly higher. Life slowly drained out of him and he started to fall. That was when I realized that I hadnt planned this far. I jumped off him and started free falling. I screamed when one of Smaug claws flailed out and hit me in the side. I hit the water and sunk deep into the lake. I swam quickly to the top and when I made it up there I found a peice of wood and clung to it. The pain in my side was unbearable and darkness slowly took me as I floated toward shore. The last thing I heard was the sound of Kili yelling my name.

Thorin POV

I looked in shock at lake town. Marina was there! Kili and Fili were there! What have I done. I've killed them. I saw Smaug fly up into the air and then die. The company started cheering but there was no joy in my heart. "They're dead." I whispered. "They're gone." I turned around and went to the treasure room. So much gold... So much power.

Kili POV

When we got to shore I looked around frantically for Marina. When I couldn't find her among the living, I reluctantly started looking through the bodies that had made it to shore. She had killed Smaug, I couldn't believe it. Now she probably lay dead among these lakemen. No one could've survived a fall like that. I looked among the bodies and didn't find her. I looked into the distance and saw a price of wood with what looked like a body floating near us. I grabbed a boat and pushed it into the water. Fili jumped in with me and we rowed toward the body. "Oh mahal be alright. Please be alright." I whispered as we reached the wood. It was Marina. I grabbed her and slowly pulled her into the boat. She was breathing. "Shes breathing!" I exclaimed to Fili. He smiled and clasped me on the shoulder. "Come on, let's get her to shore." He said and we rowed back, Marina laying in the bottom of the boat. As we reached shore, she slowly started waking up.

Marina POV

I slowly opened my eyes and looked around. I was in the bottom of a boat and Kili was picking me up. I moaned. "I hate water." Kili chuckled and sat me down on a log and started looking me over. "What were you thinking?!" He sighed as he took some cloth and started cleaning the various scrachtes and cuts on my face. "It was the only way to kill him. He broke the windlance." I said slowly. Kili shook his head with a smile. "Crazy girl." He chuckled. I laughed but stopped quickly with a gasp when extreme pain radiated from my side. I pressed my hand to my side and bent over. "Let me see it." Kili said, removing my hand and lifting up my shirt. My belly was covered in bruises. His eyes widened. "Mirkwood." I whispered, looking away. He sighed and made me look at him. "Im so sorry." A tear fell down my cheek. "They made Thorin watch." Kili growled and cursed in Kuzdul. He saw the gash in my side from Smaugs claw. "Oh mahal." He whispered. "We need to get you help." He slung one of my arms around his neck and one of his arms went around mg waist, carefully avoiding the gash and he helped me along. "Fili! Bofur! We need to get to Erebor Marina need help!" He yelled.

Kili POV

I knew the gash was bad. So did she. Fili, Bofur and I started to make our way to Erebor. "Please still be alive." I whispered. About halfway there Marina's head started to droop. "I don't feel so good." She moaned as she passed out. I picked her up bridal style and turned to Fili. "We need to hurry." I said. We made it to the mountain and went in. I looked around in awe at the huge city. "So this is Erebor..." I said. "Uncle!! Thorin!!! Somebody!!" I yelled. It was too quiet. Suddenly Bilbo came running. "You need to leave!!" He said frantically. "Why?" "Its Thorin.. He hasn't left the treasure room ever since lake town was destroyed! The dragon sickness has taken him!" My heart dropped. "Take us to him. And where's Oin? Marina needs help." Bilbo sighed. "The treasure room is this way." He mumbled. He led us around a corner and down some stairs. I looked down in awe at the vastness of the treasure. I saw Thorin, sifting through gold as if it were all that mattered in the world. He turned around and saw us. In an instant the sick look in his eyes disappeared and he looked at us as though we were ghosts. "You are alive." He whispered. "Where is Marina?!?!?" He asked frantically. I realized that I had wrapped her in my cloak so I gently took it away. Thorin ran towards us and stopped when he saw the extent of her injuries. "Dwalin find Oin!" He yelled, looking down at Marina. "Kili what happened? I smiled. "She killed him. She killed Smaug." Thorin looked at me, with big eyes.

Thorin POV

I love this gold. This gold is all that matters. I turned around and looked up. I saw my nephews. "You are alive." I whispered. In and instant I forgot all about the gold. "Where is Marina???" I asked frantically, afraid to hear the answer. Kili moved his cloak away and I saw her in his arms. I ran towards them and saw the extent of her injuries. "Dwalin! Go find Oin!" Dwalin looked at me. "I thought I was supposed to be looking for the Arkenstone!" "I don't care go find Oin!" I slowly touched her cheek. "Kili what happened?" Kili looked at me with a smile. "She killed him. She killed Smaug." I stared at him, eyes wide. "What?" Kili nodded. "She jumped on him and stabbed him with a black arrow." Admiration for her swelled up in me. "Here, I'll take her." I gently took her into my arms and as if she knew it was me, she wrapped her arms around my neck and smiled. Her eyes slowly fluttered open. Tears fell down her cheeks when she saw me. "I thought you were dead!!" She wailed as she attached herself to me. Her legs went around my waist and her arms tightened around my neck and she buried her face in my shoulder. "I thought you were dead." She whimpered, tears falling down her cheeks. I rubbed her back and buried my face in her neck. "I thought I would never see you again." I turned to Bofur. "Go find Dwalin and tell him I don't need Oin anymore I'll take care of her myself." Gently holding her I made my way to my chambers. I kicked the door open and kicked it shut. I gently sat her down on the bed and lifted up her shirt. I saw all the bruises. "They haven't gone away..." I whispered, flashbacks filling my mind. She shook her head. "I still see them hurting me. Not stopping." I gently cupped her face and kissed her. I looked at the gash in her side. "This is an easy fix." I said, ripping up one of my shirts to wrap around her waist. When I had finished I quickly wrapped her in my arms. "I have missed this." I whispered as I held her in my lap. She looked up at me. "I thought you were dead. I was so terrified." She sobbed, clutching my tunic. I rubbed her back and buried my face in her neck. I softly kissed her neck. "I'll never leave you again." I said softly and I rocked her back and forth. She slowly fell asleep, still clutching my tunic. I laid down on the bed and held her in my arms. "This was meant to be." I whispered as I let sleep take me for the first time in days.
