Marina POV

I glanced over at Kili. I could see the mischief in the young princes eyes."Orcs?" Bilbo asked, apprehensive. I noticed Thorin perk up and grab for his weapon out of the corner of your eye. "Aye, throatcutters. There'll be dozens of them out there." Fili said. With a wink to his brother. "They strike in the wee hours of the morning, no screams, just lots of blood." Kili finished. By now Bilbo was looking quite scared. Fili and Kili looked at eachother and chuckled. I elbowed Kili in the side when I noticed Thorin stand up an stalk over to us. "You think that's funny? That a night raid by Orcs is a joke?! You know nothing of the world." He snapped. Kili looked at the ground. "We...didn't mean anything by it.." He said quietly. Thorin sneered. "Of course you didn't." I frowned at Thorin. That was uncalled for. I walked over to where he was, standing by a rock. "That was uncalled for." I chided. He turned to me, anger in his eyes. "You!" He walked toward me. I took a step back. "You, girl, do not belong with us! You join our company, and think you know all about us! You, do not know anything! You are but a stupid dwarf girl!" I took another step back, tripped over a rocks and fell flat on my back with an "oof." Kili came running toward me. By now Thorin had pretty much terrified me. Kili looped his arm around mine, and helped me up. He helped me back to the fire. "Dont mind him lassy. Thorin has more cause than most to hate Orcs." Balin told me. He went on to tell me the story of the battle in Moria. I was horrified. After the story was over, Thorin turned around to look at us all. We were all standing up staring at him in awe. I felt guilty. Shortly after everyone had sat back down to continue whatever they were doing, I cautiously walked up to Thorin. "Look I.... I just wanted to say... I'm sorry. I didn't know." He turned to me. His eyes werent angry, they looked.... Almost.... Sorry? But that look vanished in an instant. "It is alright. I also apologive for my harsh words earlier. They were not just." I smiled quietly and turned to walked to my bedroll. I lay on it an started to fall asleep. Before I fell asleep, I felt someone pull my blanket up to my shoulders. Then I was asleep.

In the morning, we were on the road again. But unfortunately, it was down pouring for most of the day. In the evening, we stopped for the night by a farmstead in ruins. Gandalf looked around. "I suggest we move on." Thorin grumbled. "No. We are tired and hungry. We stay here."

Gandalf grumbled. He started walking away. "Wait! Where are you going?" I cried. He replied but kept walking. "To be with the only one in this company who has any sense!" Bilbo looked confused. "And who is that?" I asked. "Myself Marina!" And with that he left. I watched Thorin tell Bombur to start a fire and make dinner. Thorin instructed Fili, Kili, and myself to go watch the ponies. As we were watching the ponies. Kili turned to me, a smirk on his features. "You like Thorin, don't you?" I looked up, not willing to admit that I had been thinking about him endlessly. "What? No! Of course not! Why would I?!" He smirked. Fili joined in. "Of course you like him!!" I blushed. "Well... Yes... I suppose I do...." Fili and Kili burst into raucous laughter. "I knew it!!!" Kili cried, laughing. Just then I looked about. I hit Kili in the shoulder to make him stop. "Where are Myrtle and Minty!!" Kili and Fili stopped instantly. Before we could do anything, Bilbo arrived with soup bowls. Once he saw the looks on our faces he stopped. "Whats going on?" I shushed him. "We'be encountered a slight problem with the ponies." We had sixteen," Kili said. "Now there's fourteen." Fili finished. We looked about. "Hey! There's a light!" Fili exclaimed. We looked toward the light. "Trolls." I said with a grumble. I ran forward. "Stop!!" Kili yelled. "Get Thorin!" I yelled. I skidded to a halt. I crept around in the bushes. I got to the ponies. There were 3 trolls. (Let's call them Fred, Tom, and Phil.) I managed to get to the rope surrounding the ponies. I started cutting the ropes. Just then Tom turned around. "Oi!! There's a dwarf!!" I turned and ran. Phil managed to grab my foot and pull me back. He held me up. "Any more of you scum hiding around?" He demanded. I shook my head. Just then Kili burst through the trees and slashed Phil's leg. Phil yelled. "Put her down!!" He yelled threateningly. "What?" Phil said. "I said, PUT HER DOWN!!!" Kili yelled. Then all the dwarves burst through the clearing. Phil tossed me at Kili, and I landed on him and we both went crashing to the ground, me on top, him on the bottom. He groaned in pain. "Are you ok?" I gasped. He looked at me. "Yes. I'm sure you wish I was Thorin." I rolled my eyes and smacked him on the shoulder. "Come on lover boy. Lets kick some troll butt." He laughed. "Ladies first." We ran into the battle. We slashed and stabbed at the trolls, until Fred managed to grab me. I shrieked as he held me by my arms and legs. "Lay down your arms, or we'll break her in half!"
