Chapter-23

Xander's POV:

I was shocked by Naina's outburst. My sweet angel was upset. And truth to be told, she has a right to be. I admit when first she told me about her professor, a thought flickered about her involvement in the kidnappings. But I dismissed it away as soon as I got the thought. I am ashamed that I even thought about that. When she stormed out  of the room with tears in her eyes, my heart broke. She was crying because of me. Even Andrew and John were looking down ashamed. Their faces held guilt. Just as I was about to go after her, my phone rang. I was surprised to see it was a conference call from the council. I sighed, I really wanted to go after my mate but this was important. I reluctantly took the call. Even Andrew and John stayed as they demanded that the higher officials of the pack must be present.

 During the meeting, my wolf was restless thinking about our mate. He tried to take control but I shoved him down forcefully. The meeting went on about two hours and by the end of it, I couldn't wait to get out there to meet my angel. The meeting was nothing important, it was just revising the facts of the kidnappings and also discussing with all the plans about the theory my angel proposed. Everyone was impressed by the theory my mate came up with and agreed to look further into it. They all congratulated me for having such a smart luna which filled me with pride. But it  was replaced with disappointment when I thought about the accusation we threw towards her. As soon as the call ended, I along with my friends went to our room to apologize to her. But she was not there. We went to her old room. Her scent was there but it was faint. I noticed there was a note on the bed. I picked it up and found that it was the address of the old cabin my angel was telling about. I panicked, why the hell would she leave the address in a note. She could have told me directly. We three dispersed to look out for her. But we couldn't find her. 

We all gathered in my office. "It is all my fault. it is my fault that I doubted her. Now look what I have done, I made her upset. I let my faith waver. She is gone now and she will never forgive me" I sank to my knees and started sobbing not caring that my beta and gamma are watching me. At the same time Sophie came barging in "damn right, you are stupid to hurt her" she started screaming at me.

Sophie's POV:

I was just getting ready for my appointment with the pack doctor. A routine check up for my pregnancy. John told me he couldn't come with me to the hospital as he was stuck in the office, some research about the kidnappings. I told him it was fine as I understand that it was much important than the check up. Char had volunteered to go with me but I declined her offer. She is busy with her project and I don't want to disturb her. I assured her that I will be fine and I can handle myself. So here I was getting ready to go to the pack hospital. My baby bump was somewhat visible and I smiled rubbing it lightly. I descended the stairs, was about to go into kitchen for getting water when the door bell rang. I was surprised to see Naina as soon as I opened it.

 I smiled but it soon turned into a frown when I saw her crying and her carrying a duffel bag. I ushered her inside and we sat on the couch. "What happened?" I asked her. Naina is one of the strongest persons I have known. The way she accepted our world thrown at her still astonishes me. In the little time here, she became like a sister to me. She is my luna, my sister but mostly she is my Best friend who I admire a lot. Seeing her like this, is hurting not only me but also my wolf. My wolf has taken a liking to her the day we met. She feels protective of her, the main reason her being our luna. As soon I asked her, she hugged me crying. "They all think I am a culprit. No one trusts me. I have no one here Sophie. I can't stay here another second" she said sobbing on my shoulder. Hearing this my wolf bristled, how dare somebody accuses her, hurt my best friend's feeling. I soothed her and ask softly "Who are they sweet heart, who are you talking about and what did they accuse you for?" I was shocked when she said the names I never expected. She said "Xander, John and Andrew."

I was pissed off by her answer. I was furious with John and Andrew but I was livid with Xander. How could he hurt his own mate? I asked her what happened and she told me what happened in the office. She told me she was planning to go to her uncle's house for time being to clear her mind. I was about to object her but agreed seeing the hurt in her eyes. I reluctantly agreed to stop Xander if possible and ordered a guard to escort her safely to the city. He hesitated first but soon agreed after Naina pleaded him. She promised me that she would call me regularly to which I was happy. I went to the pack hospital as soon as she left, for my appointment. From there, I directly went towards Xander's office to give those idiots a piece of mind.
