Chapter-9

Naina's POV:

Xander was nervous, I think he wanted to say something to me. Is he gonna ask me to stay back? Because if he asks I couldn't say no. My whole body and soul is forcing me to stay here. And the weird part is even my consciousness is also telling me the same thing. But I couldn't just stay at any random stranger's house. I don't know anything about Xander other than his name. But my heart and mind are telling me this is the place where I belong, which is honestly scaring me a lot.

Just when he was about to say something, his face became blank and his body went stiff as if he is in a kind of trance. "Xander, you ok?'', I asked. As he regained his posture, his body was still tense. He told me "Go with Sophie and Char for now, but don't come out. I will meet you after I finish some work. Ok?" All I could do was nod seeing his pleading eyes. He sighed in relief and was about to turn away when I caught his hand and said "Be careful". He just smiled, kissed me on the forehead and said "always". Just as he left, Char came running in with panic, she took my hand and started to take me through the back door. I didn't ask any questions as she was already tensed. I just followed her silently. We reached an old rusty building and she ushered me to go inside. Once we both got inside, Char closed the door and lead me to the basement. There all the children and women were huddled together along with Sophie. The air was filled with tension and it was suffocating. As soon as Sophie saw me, she ran to me and gave me a bone crushing hug. I hugged her back and soon Char also joined the hug. When I looked back, all the women and childrens' faces were filled with worry. I don't know why but I got a sudden urge to comfort them. There was this one girl who sat in the corner and sobbed to herself. Seeing her this miserable, I went to her and hugged her tightly to my chest as she clung to me. I looked at everyone who are now looking at me and said "Don't worry, I don't know what the hell is happening out there but I assure you that Xander will take care of that. No harm would come to you all, I promise that!" And to my surprise, everyone including the small girl, Sophie and Char visibly relaxed.

Just as I was contemplating what the hell happened, suddenly the door of the basement was ripped off from the hinges and there stood two large wolves with red eyes and rotten smell just as the ones that attacked me in the forest but a little weaker and smaller. Screams of terror were heard seeing the two wolves. I gave the little girl to Char. "Sophie, get all the children and women to the farthest corner and tell them to stop panicking". Luckily I spotted a cane which was not far away and grabbed it. Sophie was about to argue, but one look from me she just showed her neck and did as I told. 'weird' I thought to myself. One of the wolves jumped on me and I hit it's snout with the cane with all my strength. To my surprise it was knocked out cold. The other wolf tried to jump on me but I took a sharp turn and it ended up barreling into the wall and lost it's consciousness. I know the children would be afraid of the two wolves so I asked Sophie to help me in putting those two wolves outside the room. But to my surprise, when I turned around I found two naked men at the place of the wolves. I gasped and asked Sophie "what the hell is happening here Sophie, Why are there two men in the place of wolves and why the hell aren't you surprised?" Sophie started fidgeting and said "yes, about that Naina, we...we...are", I was getting frustrated and about to shout when the little girl ran from Char into my hands and said squealing "You were awesome luna and those two are werewolves just like the rest of us"
