"Do you think she's okay?" Leonie asked her girlfriend as she sat on the couch of their London apartment. She checked the time and sighed dramatically.
"For the eleventh time, I don't know." Mel rolled her eyes. She often found the blonde's constant badgering endearing because Logan was usually the sole topic of Leo's relentless need for reassurance. Much like right now. "Call her. Again. Maybe she'll answer this time."
Leonie looked at the brunette with a deadpan expression, not appreciating the joking tone of voice, before deciding to do exactly as suggested. She shrugged, "okay then."
"I was joking!" Mel laughed as the blonde fished her phone out her pocket and hit re-dial on her last call, which was to Logan. The brunette jumped to her feet as Leo put the phone to her ear. "Hang up! You can't keep calling her, she'll think you're obsessed!"
"I am not obsessed!"
"That sounded convincing." Mel sassed. "Then what are you?"
"I'm...a concerned neighbor?"
"Wow, some neighbor." Mel laughed as she took the phone form the blonde's hands. "You've left her two messages and three missed calls, I think that's enough for today."
"It's only five in the afternoon, there's still plenty of time to make more calls."
Mel gave Leo another look, and took her by the hand to sit her down on the couch, before sitting down beside her and putting her phone on the coffee table a little out of the way.
"What's going on with you? You're never like this." Mel asked softly, her hands clasping her girlfriends, thumbs rubbing the blonde's knuckles.
"You need to ask?" Leo replied. "You know what she said was happening yesterday, are you going to tell me you're not concerned about what happened?"
Mel glanced at Leo's phone, "I am concerned."
"I hate this distance. I feel useless. I want to be there for her when she needs someone."
"What are you saying? You want to move?"
Two Days Earlier.
"C'mon Logan, you can run faster than that!" Alex joked as she watched Logan's group doing the beep test, the Canada pro was one of the last three in it. The blonde flipped Alex the bird and pushed her legs harder, ignoring the amused chuckles from her teammates.
"I'm gonna kick her." Logan grumbled and groaned.
"Don't make me laugh." Ali complained before she caved and gave up, moving to stand beside a chuckling Alex.
"Speed up, Scott. Maple syrup moves faster, you're gonna embarrass Canada!" Alex chirped, laughing more as Logan stumbled to her knees with laughter.
"You asshole!" Logan laughed, as the coaching team called time on the beep test.
"That sounds like a great time to end for the day, hit the showers and head home. We'll see you tomorrow."
"Great." Logan sighed, lying down on her back and looking to the sky. "Just leave me here, I'll see you all tomorrow!"
"Fine by me. See ya!" Ali smiled as she followed the rest of the team, minus Alex, off the field.
"Are you gonna get up?" Alex asked, standing over Logan.
"Uh, no. No, I think I'm just gonna stay here." Logan smiled at the brunette.
"In the sun? With no shade or water?"
"...Damn. Fine, help me up."
Alex didn't have to be told twice, she held her hand out for her friend and hoisted her up into the air, and onto her feet.
