"The snow was born to melt"
To say things between the once-close siblings was awkward, would be putting it lightly. The four year long seperation clearly took its toll, as Clarissa had quickly noted.
She also noticed how Logan would continually try and strike up a conversation with her brother, only to be shot down rather brutally.
Unluckily for Kevin, the hint that he didn't want to talk to his sister didn't register with Logan, or she simply ignored it.
"Can you give us a minute?" Logan asks Clarissa, who is more than happy to leave the tense situation in her kitchen.
"Why are you here?" Kevin asks his sister, once he's completely sure his mother-figure was out of ear shot.
"I wanted to see my brother, I missed him-"
"Didn't stop you leaving." Kevin grumbled. His eyes dart to the ground, seemingly finding great interest in his Nike's. Four years didn't mean anything, not when it came to his sister reading his body language and his tone of voice, and he knew that.
"I thought we already sorted that out-"
"You didn't even visit!" Kevin yells, rising from his chair. His growth spurt sees him towering over his still-seated sister, who doesn't even flinch at his increased volume. "Not even for my birthday."
"Kevin," Logan speaks softly, slowly rising from her perch to appraoch her brother with caution, as though trying to approach a cornered lion. "I was scared."
"Scared?" Logan's brother scoffs. Kevin internally cringes at the wince from his sister at his accusatory tone. He had never seen, or heard, his sister sound so vulnerable, or even admit to being scared in the slightest. "Of what?"
"Of this," Logan gestures between Kevin and herself. "I knew I hurt you, and it killed me. It still does! I was supposed to be the one who never hurt you, who never left you, who always, and I mean always, took care of you! And I let you down. I was...ashamed, and I'm so sor-"
Logan's rambling is cut off by two arms wrapping around her. It's not a familiar hug, but she hasn't seen her brother in years. He used to be a lot shorter and now he's a good few inches taller than her already.
Everything about her brother is different. His height, his voice, his attitude, and his scent. But she still loves it.
"Oh good," Clarissa interrupts, entering the room with a newfound bounce in her step after witnessing the now happy siblings, "I thought maybe you killed each other. This is a good alternative!"
"How did he take the news?" Hope asks Logan over coffee. She's one of the few people Logan wanted to keep in contact with when she moved to Germany.
"Pretty well. I guess he's just...used to not seeing me anymore." Logan mumbles as she sips her latte. "And don't say it."
"Say what?" Logan's ex teammate ponders, a brow raised in emphasis.
"That's it's my fault he's used to not seeing me."
"Well-"
"I said don't. I think he's just happy im staying in the States, Shelina seems excited, too. I'm just worried."
"Okay, okay," Hope laughs before she sighs. "What are you worried about?"
"All of your American buddies," Logan chuckles, despite her body tensing. "Who knows how they'll welcome me."
"I wouldn't worry, you're a different person now. And you're not the same kid you were when you left. You were this rookie who wouldn't do anything to rile anyone up. You stayed in line. I kept an eye on you while you were in Germany, and I'm sure I wasn't the only one, but you bossed your team, and your team bossed the league. You're not a rookie anymore, don't let anyone make you feel like you are."
"Thanks," Logan grins, "I needed that."
"When do you leave?"
"I'm here for a few days, my flight leaves Friday morning."
"Are you going to talk to anyone else while you're here?" Hope asks. The hidden question not lost on the young Scott.
"Nope. I think it's better that way. She's moved on, and so have I."
"You have? Are you dating?" A new voice asks from directly behind Logan, who doesn't seem startled at all.
"No, Pinoe, I'm not."
The former teammates talk and laugh over several refills of steaming coffee. Hope and Pinoe leave before Logan, just as the staff in the local coffee shop change shifts.
Checking through emails, answering the minority back, Logan ignores the call that flashes on her screen.
BIRTH GIVER ⚠️☣
"How does she always know..." Logan mumbles to herself before shoving her phone in her pocket and preparing to leave.
"How does who always know what?"
The unsigned player glances up and takes note of the waitress, who seems just as confused."I was just...talking to...myself, I guess," Logan chuckles as she glances at the empty seats surrounding her.
"Oh! I'm so sorry, I thought you were talking to me!" The unknown brunette giggles before clearing her throat, subconciously straightening her apron as Logan stands.
"It's all good. I'm just leaving," Logan states, and follows the waitress to the counter to settle up her bill, already having promised Hope and Megan that their coffee date was her treat. She settles up her bill before smiling at the waitress. "It was nice to meet you, even if it was...odd. I'm Logan."
Logan laughs as the brunette holds her hand out, eagerly.
"It was nice to meet you too, my name's Sarah."
