ASEXUAL

In the three months since Logan and Kelley decided to ease back into any kind of relationship they've been growing close. Both women decided to take it slowly, and while their schedules helped keep that true, it didn't stop them from texting and calling whenever they could.

This wasn't one of those moments though as the US team set up camp in Seattle, with a friendly set up against Canada and so it was one of those rare times that both women were in the same area of the country for more than a few days.

And if anyone was going to take advantage of that it would be Kevin - and his friend Jessica. Which is how they found themselves watching the Canada team's open practice, the humid heat of Seattle threatening to suffocate those who didn't have water, which is probably why Kevin found his best friend Jessica stealing his.

"Your sister is awesome." Jessica gushes, eyes twinkling and a wide grin on her face, she honestly resembled the Cheshire Cat.

"She is." Kevin agreed, not because she's great at what she does, but because of everything she ever did for him.

"You okay?" Jessica asks after taking in the pensive expression on her friend's face.

"Yeah, just glad she's back."

"Does that include her being with Kelley?"

Kevin pauses, glancing at his sister as she chases Jordyn Huitema in circles, a small smile on his face. "I don't know. I know she makes Logan happy, but she was happy with Mel and Leonie but I wasn't there to witness it so I can't compare. I just want her to be happy."

"She looks happy." Jessica playfully nudges him as they watch the older Scott mess around with her teammates.

A few hours later, and in a slightly more comfortable temperature thanks to the breeze rushing gently down the shaded street, the two teens were with Logan, waiting for Kelley to show up. Kevin himself was desperate for the American pro to show up simply so his friend can stop pestering his sister with questions about her life and career. It didn't seem like Logan was bothered, in fact she had an amused smile on her face as Jessica continued to rant until her face turned red.

It was safe to say that Logan was one of her favorite players, and while that in itself was a concern for the Canada player - she didn't want people clinging to her brother for the wrong reasons - but five minutes with Jessica and Kevin proved to Logan that they were great friends.

"–and then you faked left, hitting the ball against your left foot and going right to set up Morgan! That was amazing!" Jessica gushed, she was definitely in her element, not a hint of embarrassment on the younger girl's face.

"Oh my God, can you stop?" Kevin asked, his face flushed, clearly feeling the embarrassment that Jessica wasn't feeling.

"Shut up, Kevin." Logan smiled.

"Yeah, Kevin. Shut up." Jessica grinned, apparently on Cloud Nine that Logan stuck up for her.

"Why are we picking on Kevin?" A new voice interrupted, and the three turned to find Kelley and Alex walking towards them. They were clearly confused but smiling nonetheless.

Being tired of feeling ganged up on by his best friend and his sister, Kevin took his phone from his pocket and caught the reunion on camera. Hoping to be subtle so he can use it as ammunition later in they year, but a hand up from Kelley as she tries to block the view told him he failed.

He shot the picture as Alex stood beside him to see what he snapped, the two ignored the way Kelley and Logan were whispering to each other, the way Jessica was watching them fondly, as if they were royalty and she was simply lucky to be in their presence, and the way Logan stuffed her face into Kelley's neck.

"Can you not? This is gross." Kevin groans, smiling as the happy couple flip him off.

Alex guides the two teens into a coffee shop. Ironically the same coffee shop that Logan and Kelley met in four years after Logan had left for Germany. The group of five found a booth near the back, away from the windows and any disturbances. It was then that Kevin noticed how quiet his usually loud-mouth best friend was being.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

"Mh-hmm."

"Really? Because you wouldn't shut up when you were talking to Logan and now you're unusually quiet."

"Wow, Kev. Just tell everyone." Jessica grumbles and her head drops as embarrassment rushes her system.

"Ignore him, he was the same when he met Hope." Logan insists, smiling at the look of annoyance Kevin throws her.

"We don't bite." Alex shrugs, smiling at the teen before scanning the menu as if this wasn't an odd occurence to her - which it wasn't.

"Can I take your–" The small but polite voice of a waitress interrupts, possibly saving Jessica from further embarrassment, only to throw Logan and especially Kelley into an awkward situation.

"Oh. Sarah." Kelley mumbles, careful to not tear her hand from Logan's.

"Kelley. Nice to see you again. You too, Logan." Sarah greeted sweetly. "I see you both worked everything out."

Kevin, Alex and Jessica sat in silence, watching intently, all that was missing was popcorn as they looked from Logan to Kelley to Sarah, again and again and again.

"What can I get you all?" Sarah asks, this time looking to everyone else at the booth, her pen and pad poised to take their orders. Her smile was easy-going and friendly but her eyes screamed that she just wanted to get out of there.

Placing their orders was awkward.

The silences after Sarah's departure to retrieve their orders was awkward.

"This is why I don't date." Kevin retorted, trying and succeeding in easing the uncomfortable tension in the booth.

"Yeah. That and you don't have game." Jessica grinned, finally starting to come out of her shell, much to the relief of her best friend and the players around her.

"I'm asexual, I don't need game, darling." Kev winked at his best friend as she scoffed.

"You're such a nerd." Jessica mumbles as Sarah arrives with a tray filled with different coffees and hands them out before silently leaving.

"So that's Sarah?" Alex asks. She had known about Kelley's Seattle barrista girlfriend but had never met her. She also knew it wasn't serious.

"Yeah."

The awkward silence had returned and the only thing Kevin could think about was breaking it, and so took his phone from his pocket, adding Logan and Kelley to the same chat and sending them both the picture he took earlier. Putting his phone back in his pocket he watched, with Alex and Jessica, as the two women took their respective phones from their pockets to look at the notification. Clicking of phones unlocking could be heard before grins made their way onto Logan and Kelley's faces.

"Thanks kid." O'Hara smiled, pocketing her phone again as Logan wrapped an arm around her younger brother, kissing his head and then ruffling his oh-so-perfect hair.

After the coffee hour, everyone had to part ways. Logan back to the hotel to get ready for a late-afternoon practice, Alex and Kelley back to their own hotel where the rest of the US team are staying while Kevin and Jessica had to head home for school the next day.

"Will I see you after the game?" Logan asked as she wrapped her arms around her younger brother.

"Definitely." Kevin whispered, his own arms wrapping around Logan's waist. This, his sister's arms, was always his safe space. "I can't wait."

"Me too, Kev." Logan smiled, pulling away to kiss her brother's cheek and hugging Jessica goodbye, chuckling as the teenage girl practically froze in return.

"Always a pleasure, Jess." Logan smiled as she climbed into the Uber Kelley and Alex ordered, leaving the two teens to meet up with some friends before heading home.

"I love your sister!" Jessica beamed, grinning from ear to ear.

"Yeah, yeah."
