Is anybody out there?
Can you lead me to the light?
Is anybody out there?
Tell me it'll all be alright
— RUELLE

It was the perfect weather for a funeral. The sullen dark clouds hanging threateningly above, the heavy rain bouncing off the ground from the impact, helping to hide the fallen tears on the faces of mourners. The cold breeze offering no type of comfort to the people below.

It was perfect for a funeral.

There was a barrage of emotions flooding the brunette as he stood outside the church. It was odd to be back, to be near the church he would pass by everyday when he was a younger child. Before everything had changed. He would pass it on his way to school, he would pass it on his way to watch Logan's games, he would pass it when his sister would take him out for dinner after scraping together a few dollars she had managed to hide from their mother. Never did he imagine he would be here for the woman that held a special place in his heart.  The friendly neighbor that would do anything for the Scott children because she knew. She knew the mother was a poor excuse for a parent, she knew their mother would rather get high and drunk than watch her children grow. She knew the mother would rather obliterate herself than experience her children develop their own personalities, their own senses of humor. In many ways, Mrs Holland was the mother that Kevin never had, the mother that Kevin deserved.

She watched him quietly. Her heart often ached for Kevin, thrown through too much shit too quickly, and still she couldn't protect him. She could only endure alongside him.

He enjoyed the beating of the rain on his head, it soothed him in some odd way. He took peace from the steady beat as the drops hit his jacket. Until it all stopped. The dull beating was replaced with a more energetic rhythm as the drops made contact with the nylon of the umbrella.

Before he could turn, he felt it. The comfort that he always sought, the comfort that was always available for him. He subconsciously smiled as he felt the arm wrap around his shoulders and his body being pulled into the warm embrace of his sister.

"Hey." Logan spoke softly. She placed a gentle kiss on her brother's temple, pulling him as close as possible.

"Hey." Kevin replied, his voice breaking with the emotion he tried desperately to bury but with the safety only his sister could offer, he felt the dam bursting at the seams.

The siblings were silent. Logan offered no cliché statements, she simply held her brother as emotion wracked his body.

"I'm glad you came." Kevin finally spoke, pulling away slightly. "I know it couldn't have been easy."
It was unspoken but both heard the real end of that sentence. I know how important your career is.

"She was like a mother to us, especially to you. I wouldn't miss this for anything, Kevin." Logan sighed. "She was important to me, too."

The blonde noticed others begin to fill the church. She squeezed her brother's shoulder hoping it gave him comfort and strength to know that she was there for him, every step of the way. "Are you ready?"

"No." Kevin admitted. "But she deserves to be surrounded by people that loved her, and I loved her."

"Let's go." Logan nodded, she guided her younger brother up the cold stone steps of the church and into the building through the ornate wooden doors.

The couple pull up curbside, the rain continuing to batter the windows of their rental, it had been raining ever since they arrived. The two looked upon the church, enjoying the heat from the car before eventually having to leave its confines. The once lively, welcoming buiding was now dark and dull, tarnished from years of bad weather. Moss and vines growing along the walls, adding vibrant greens in contrast to the black mold substances.

"Are you sure this is the right place?" The brunette asks with a grimace. It didn't seem like the place to lay someone to rest it seemed more like the setting for an exocism. Hmm...maybe we'll be here with Logan's mother one day, that woman has some demons.

"Yeah, this is the place." Leo sighed.

The two watched as the large, heavy doors creeked open, the sound hitting them despite the rain and them being in a car. The minister stepped out, leading a line of mourners amongst whom were the two people they were waiting for.

Logan was leading her younger brother from the building, one arm wrapped around his shoulder, tucking him safely into her side, and her other hand on the open umbrella. Both siblings seemed downcast, the situation taking a lot out of them. Neither Scott acknowledged the sound of car doors opening and closing, the sound of footsteps rounding the car.

"Hey, you two."

Logan's head snaps up at the sound of Melanie's voice. It was always soothing, and she always loved it, it felt like a warm blanket being placed around her shoulders and shielding her from the horrible harsh truth of life.

"Mel? Leo?" Logan asked, confused. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm here for you." The brunette smiled warmly.

"I'm not." Leo shrugged, taking everyone by surprise. She stepped closer to the siblings, specifically Kevin. "I'm here for this kid, too."

Logan smiled, tears threatening to spill from her eyes after hours of self-restraint as she watched one of the women she loves step forward and pull Kevin into her arms. She watched her brother wrap his arms around the blonde's waist, holding onto her tightly as though she was a buoy in a stormy ocean. She felt a warm hand gently wipe away her tears.

"Thanks for coming." Logan smiled, clearing her throat to hide the break in her voice. "It's a nice surprise."

"You don't have to thank us." Mel admitted as she pulled the blonde Scott into her arms, letting Logan hide her face into her neck. The brunette subtly smiles as she feels the familiar warmth of the woman's breath on her skin. She missed it.

"Is Kelley here?" Logan whispers. She always hated feeling, sounding, looking vulnerable, it took the German duo over a year until the blonde felt comfortable enough to be herself.

Mel made eye contact with Leo, both smiling sadly. "Uh...no. She wanted to be here though."

The brunette tried to hold onto the stubborn American born Canadian, but it was a losing battle, Logan pulled away after muttering a quiet oh, okay.

She didn't know why she was upset that kelley wasn't there. Maybe her emotions were out of control but lately, the more time she spent with Kelley, Mel and Leo together, the more her mind was beginning to imagine what she was sure to be impossible.

Three's a crowd but four is asking for trouble. Right?

"Have you eaten?" Leo asked the siblings. When both shook their heads in the negative, she led them to the rental, opening the door for Kevin while Mel opened the door for Logan on the other side. Both siblings silently followed the German two, letting them decide where they were going for dinner.

Logan's phone buzzed in her pocket, catching the attention of Mel and Leo who glanced a each other with knowing smiles. Mel watched in the rearview window as Logan unlocked her phone and looked at the message.

Logan finally smiled
