Chapter One:

"Come on Sophi!" Chelsea begged pulling on the sleeve of her red headed co worker, "I really want to watch the live stream. Will you please cover my shift?"

I sighed, "Chels, this is a job. It's not a game, you expect me to approve a shift off for a live stream?"

"Please?" Chelsea begged, batting her eye lashes.

I crossed my arms and stared at her for a few minutes before groaning, "fineeee."

She squealed and clapped her hands.

"But," I said, quickly, "you have to work the opening shift at 7am everyday for the next two weeks."

Her face fell and she sighed, "okay."

"Alright. Go head home. I'll take over," I said, logging into the computer at the front desk.

Chelsea grabbed her coat from the employee closet behind us, "thanks Sophi! you're the best manager EVER."

"Yeah yeah," I said waving at her as she dashed out of the store.

I looked around the mostly empty store. I worked at a comic book and video game store called Milton's. I enjoyed working around the things that I loved the most but the guys were a bit weird. There had to be some hot nerds in this town.

The bell dinged as the front door opened.

"Hi, welcome to -," I paused when I saw who had walked in.

He was tall and built. His bangs kept out of his face with a bandana around his forehead. He wore a trench coat and his long brown hair matched his scraggly beard. He was....hot.

"Milton's," I finished, "let me know if I can help you."

"Actually you can," he said.

Oh my lord. His voice. Deep but like an angels.

"Um, sure. What do you need?" I asked him.

"I'm looking for a specific game, I was hoping you had it," he said, walking over to the desk.

His hands stayed in the pockets of his jacket and I could smell him. He smelled faintly of cologne mixed with the strong odor of cigarettes. It was comforting.

"Okay. Which game?" I asked, trying to not look like I was staring.

"Tiny Tank."

I couldn't help but smile a bit, "really?"

He nodded, "yeah. Don't laugh."

I shook my head, still smiling, "I'm not. I just remember that game quite fondly."

"Really? that game has to be older than you," he commented.

I typed the game into the computer and looked through our inventory, "nah. My moms boyfriend had it when I was about 8. I used to play it all the time."

"And your mom wasn't pissed?" he asked, a bit of shock on his face.

I shrugged, "she didn't love it but it kept me from playing violent games."

He just grunted in response. I looked through the inventory once more before shaking my head and looking at him.

"Sorry, but we don't have it."

He sighed, "okay. Thanks."

He turned to leave.

"Wait. is there a specific time you need it or reason?" I asked.

"For work," he turned back around to face me, "I work at 11 tonight."

"Well we close at 9:30. Um, it's a long shot but I still have the game. I only live about five minutes down the road. If you want to meet outside the store around ten, I could let you use my copy. I understand if you don't want to," I added quickly.

He thought for a moment before nodding, "sure. I'll see you at ten."

He headed out of the store.

"See ya," I called after him.
